It's certainly impressive (1 billion hits), and fair play to Eminem, it proves how strong his popularity is that he is the only 3rd artist to achieve it, especially when he has been about since 1999 and YouTube didn't become popular until 2006.....but joining the likes of Justin Bieber & Lady Gaga isn't exactly something to be proud of lol.

It was European #1 for 6 weeks aswell. Even Eminem only managed 5 weeks at #1 in Europe this year.

No, I read somewhere it was actually the best-selling song of the 2000-2009 decade. It could've been wrong though. I'll try and find it! I'm not saying it was the best, or got the most airplay, or had the most cultural impact, or whatever, but I did read somewhere it was the best-selling. Remember, it was popular in pretty much every single country in the entire world. A lot of songs that are massive in the US don't do a thing in other countries.

To be fair though, Shakira performed the song infront of 1,000,000,000 people, which can't've hurt its sales! Imagine Eminem got to do that!!

EDIT: Yeah, Hips Don't Lie has sold 12,000,000 apparently, which is the highest since 2000, apart from I Gotta Feeling by the Black Eyed Peas and Tik Tok by Ke$ha, which have sold 13 million, but their sales are split across 2 decades.

In this decade so far, California Gurls by Snoop Dogg and Katy Perry and Love the Way You Lie are pretty much tied for first place, both approaching 10 million!

Love the Way You Lie is the 1st or 2nd best-selling song of the current decade. It's pretty much level with California Gurls at the moment. I guess it depends on which has the most longevity. I imagine it'll be Love the Way You Lie, but I can see California Gurls getting small boosts in sales every summer.
