Why do people,when they hear that your favorite artist is Eminem,they instantly say,or think,that you're a "rapper".First of all,I never argue with them what's the difference between a rapper and a gangster,which they all seem to think "rapper" means.
Yes,my favorite artist is Eminem and that's my story.
I'm not pretending to be a gangster.I'm not wearing gangster clothes.I don't talk gangster.I'm just a normal guy whose favorite artist is Eminem.
And I'm never trying to explain them that Eminem is not a gangster.Too bad people think that if you rap,you're automatically a gangster.

So,just for my curiosity,what do you think about this?

lol it never happened to me to have friends saying im "gangsta" cause i like Eminem/hip-hop.Some afro-american people's reaction was"Figures!"(since i am white they think its kind of normal that im an Em fan?lol ),but thats it.

The OP made me lol a bit.

But that said, I've had the same happen to me before. I'm really very far from "gangster" in most aspects, but I do occasionally get a snidy remark from someone if I tell them I'm listening to Eminem (e.g. "Ooooooh! Look at you, you're so hard!"), which is just annoying. It's as if they think I listen to his songs because I'm trying to be gangster or whatever, when really I don't particularly want to be like that, and I'm certainly not listening to Em's music to try and make myself like that.

However, to be fair, with most of the mainstream artists, whether the hip hop artists, or rock, RnB, pop, electronica, etc. Pretty much any well-known artist you can listen to, there'll be some idiots in the public who'll form stereotypes about their fans. There's some stupid remark or some rash generalization you can make about fans of any well-known artist unfortunately. That's the way it goes.

But yeah, that's what I mean, if you're a fan of any well-known artist, people can stereotype you easily, since they know the artist you like fairly well. Unless it's one of those artists who have no personality, like Taio Cruz, in which case you can't really stereotype his fans (apart from "You're boring", I suppose).
