Hardly. The setup for the lauryn hill line was wack and out of context with the lauryn hill line.
He could have set it up a million times better. especially considering shishkabob is food..
EminemInsider wrote:You're a fucking dipshit. Setup lines don't need to apply...it's a bonus if they do, but most don't. That goes for every rapper alive.
Hmmm...
I'm takin rappers to a new plateau, through rap slow
My rhymin is a vitamin, held without a capsule
OMGZ, out of context and waaaaaaaaack!
Newsflash, dumbfuck: There IS no context. It's not a concept song. It's a pure "emceeing" track.
Fucking dipshits like you shouldn't be allowed to post.
So should they be complete non sequiters which have nothing to do with each other whatsoever and no cohesion between them?
You seem really upset and I'm pretty sure K block doesn't even really like Nas so...
But I'll humor yes they do have context being with each other his rhymes are a metaphor being a drug hence taking them to a new "plateau".
Funny thing is the term pure "mceeing" track is completely arbitrary unless it's a freestyle, sort off like what consitutes a "radio friendly" track. Many hardcore underground songs would have been radio friendly in the 90s, no this wasn't a complete red herring/ non sequiter. It was to show how you're arbitrarily calling something a "pure mceeing" track.
EminemInsider wrote:They can be. It's called "going where the rhyme takes you."
Generic setup lines are part of the game. And what makes Eminem's better than the average setup line is he thinks of a rhyme nobody else would. Who the hell thinks to rhyme "shishkabob" with "kids could starve?"
Apparently, according to k-block, it would've been better if Eminem said something like:
Black women hating on my skin are tards
Bought Lauryn Hill's tape so her kids could starve
Give me the "surprise" element of Eminem's version any day.
Vitamins don't take you to a "new plateau." They're not drugs.
The content is what classifies it as such. There's no concept anywhere in the song.
Eminem had a shitload of songs like this. Just take a look at "Still Don't Give a Fuck"...
A lyricist without a clue, what year is this?
Fuck a needle, here's a sword, body pierce with this
Non-sequitur lines.
But I smoke dope in a cab
I stab you with the sharpest knife I can grab
Come back the next week, and re-open your scab
Once again.
And I'm armed with a firearm
So big my entire arm's a giant firebomb
Buy your mom a shirt with a "Slim Shady iron-on"
