Oh hey I guess The Chronic is not a classic because of this line, "If I slip than I'm slippin". I mean really you could do better, not every album has to have MMLP level mceeing to be considered a classic, or how about instrumental albums are they not a classic? I'm not defending tis album btw, but you're doing a terrible job trying to discredit it.

Well for one, The Chronic came out in 1992 (just after the infancy of rap.) 50 Cent's album came out after Nas, Jay-Z, Eminem, Tupac, Big Pun, etc. You have to take the eras into account considering that the genre is so new. And not being a Snoop Dogg fan myself, The Chronic was never one of my favorite albums anyway.

Are you really trying to save face by bringing in a white guy in this discussion, lol? As if well knew what you really meant by that analogy.

50 Cent is as well. Don't derail the discussion,

Don't get mad at me for calling you out on you're retarded comparison, you might as well have called him a porch monkey and if you don't think that's racist than. :facepalm
I wasn't trying to offend anyone in that way (unless you think 50 Cent is good, then yeah, be offended... because you're fucking stupid.)

Except I think 50 cent is shit and nowhere near a talented mc, I'm not a pubescent teen that gets their feelings hurt if their favorite rapper is insulted.
And we're giving 50 Cent credit for picking the best Dre beats (circa-ten years ago)? Like that's hard, lol? Would we give Dre credit for picking the best ghost-written Eminem verses to rap in 1999?

How is it 'shit'?

Because you're comparing having an ear for beats which is a hurdle many mcees struggle with and the reasons their albums blow, with having someone layout your verses for you.

That's wrong. A stupid line should NEVER stop you from liking a song or saying that a song is great.

If something that could have been awesome and perfect (and that would rule out anything 50 Cent got his hands on), has a HUGE blemish on it somewhere...I notice it and it matters.

Rap was far from new when The Chronic came out and pretty sure you had guys like G rap, Rakim, and Big Daddy Kane who many would consider great lyricists before Dre even dropped the Chronic, you might say it's cause of different regions though for that.

No, I actually was just trying to inject some humor into my writing. You seem a little sensitive...George Bush DOES look like an ape. Just because 50 Cent looks like one too doesn't mean all black people do.

Wasn't saying you liked him, it was just a general statement.

Because you're comparing having an ear for beats which is a hurdle many mcees struggle with and the reasons their albums blow, with having someone layout your verses for you.

Bah. Beat selection, really? Putting lipstick on a pig here. Usually when rappers struggle with this problem they don't have very good beats to choose from in the first place. Very weak point there.

Rap didn't really 'grow up' so to speak until the mid-90s into the early 2000's. That was my point. The Chronic was before this movement...50 Cent's album after. In 1992, the complexity of the lyrics on The Chronic are typical for that time period. In 2003, compare 50 Cent's lyrics to the other critically acclaimed rappers of the day...No contest, he gets destroyed.

Amadeo wrote:Um, apes are very primitive and unintelligent compared to humans. So Evan (presumably) means 50 Cent is primitive and unintelligent. He didn't pull the race card, you guys did.

Key word presumably, I didn't try to misconstrue his post on purpose it's just what I got out off it. Perhaps I was wrong on assuming what he meant, but I thought it was ambigious and could be interpreted both ways, and what do you mean by "primitive"?

Everybody on this board will diss you if you try to turn 50's facial tissue into a fucking racial issue.

Let's calm down :coffee:
I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

Eminem is to running a rap label as Michael Jordan is to running a basketball team.

Just because you are great at it yourself doesn't mean you can identify talent. Eminem is a classic case.
