Love that line, so clever - although I'm pretty sure that Lauren Hill rumour was confirmed as false.

Song is immense

Hardly. The setup for the lauryn hill line was wack and out of context with the lauryn hill line.

He could have set it up a million times better. especially considering shishkabob is food..

You're a fucking dipshit. Setup lines don't need to apply...it's a bonus if they do, but most don't. That goes for every rapper alive.

Hmmm...

I'm takin rappers to a new plateau, through rap slow
My rhymin is a vitamin, held without a capsule

OMGZ, out of context and waaaaaaaaack!

Newsflash, dumbfuck: There IS no context. It's not a concept song. It's a pure "emceeing" track.

Fucking dipshits like you shouldn't be allowed to post.

Hate to white knight for K block, and I'm sure he's more than capable of speaking for himself but I'm bored.

So should they be complete non sequiters which have nothing to do with each other whatsoever and no cohesion between them?

You seem really upset and I'm pretty sure K block doesn't even really like Nas so...

But I'll humor yes they do have context being with each other his rhymes are a metaphor being a drug hence taking them to a new "plateau".

Newsflash, dumbfuck: There IS no context. It's not a concept song. It's a pure "emceeing" track.

Funny thing is the term pure "mceeing" track is completely arbitrary unless it's a freestyle, sort off like what consitutes a "radio friendly" track. Many hardcore underground songs would have been radio friendly in the 90s, no this wasn't a complete red herring/ non sequiter. It was to show how you're arbitrarily calling something a "pure mceeing" track.

Fucking dipshits like you shouldn't be allowed to post.

They can be. It's called "going where the rhyme takes you."

Look, I'm not saying it's "brilliant lyricism," but calling it "whack" is ridiculous. If those bars are whack, every rapper has had thousands upon thousands of "whack" bars.

Generic setup lines are part of the game. And what makes Eminem's better than the average setup line is he thinks of a rhyme nobody else would. Who the hell thinks to rhyme "shishkabob" with "kids could starve?"

Apparently, according to k-block, it would've been better if Eminem said something like:

Black women hating on my skin are tards
Bought Lauryn Hill's tape so her kids could starve

Give me the "surprise" element of Eminem's version any day.

You seem really upset and I'm pretty sure K block doesn't even really like Nas so...

Vitamins don't take you to a "new plateau." They're not drugs.

The content is what classifies it as such. There's no concept anywhere in the song.

Eminem had a shitload of songs like this. Just take a look at "Still Don't Give a Fuck"...

A lyricist without a clue, what year is this?
Fuck a needle, here's a sword, body pierce with this

Non-sequitur lines.

But I smoke dope in a cab
I stab you with the sharpest knife I can grab
Come back the next week, and re-open your scab

Once again.

And I'm armed with a firearm
So big my entire arm's a giant firebomb
Buy your mom a shirt with a "Slim Shady iron-on"

......

Interrupt your fun when we abduct your son
So if you use 10% to think, use your remaining 90 to duck and run

There should be a line drawn however and this is one of the reasons many songs on Infinite were shit, cause of how random the lyrics were sacrificing substance, just to look technically impressive.

Generic setup lines are part of the game. And what makes Eminem's better than the average setup line is he thinks of a rhyme nobody else would. Who the hell thinks to rhyme "shishkabob" with "kids could starve?"

Agreed, he's one of the best rhymers out there if not the best.

Apparently, according to k-block, it would've been better if Eminem said something like:

Black women hating on my skin are tards
Bought Lauryn Hill's tape so her kids could starve

Give me the "surprise" element of Eminem's version any day.

Well he'll have to clarify that himself I guess

Vitamins don't take you to a "new plateau." They're not drugs.

Pills? but fair enough I may be reaching

It's a freestyle pulled off with more tact yes.

It shows how spontaneous he is if anything.

Non-sequitur lines.

But I smoke dope in a cab
I stab you with the sharpest knife I can grab

These aren't that far off actually certainly not to the level of that Lauryn hill line.

Once again.

And I'm armed with a firearm
So big my entire arm's a giant firebomb
Buy your mom a shirt with a "Slim Shady iron-on"

Notice how he consantly mentions "arm" somewhere in the first two bars, but yeah the last bar has nothing in common with the first two.
