No Apologies 3rd Verse

Postby Innovation » Mar 11th, '11, 22:24

If you didn't know already, the third verse on No Apologies was written in a different era compared to the first and second.

I read over the third verse lyrics again as I know it was written in (possibly) late 2006, and it's not actually that bad. Given the era it was written in, when he was reaching the peak of his drug addiction, it was actually better than most of Encore and possibly all of his Re-Up verses.

Don't get me wrong the third verse is nothing compared the the first two, but he still has some half-decent rhyming on there.

Refresh your memory about No Apologies:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ImlcPnzLAuc

First few bars isn't that bad at all:
This song isn't for you, it's for me, a true MC
It's what it do just to see if he still has it
And if his skills mastered,
He's able to spill raps long after his killed, that's a real MC
Got you feelin' me, whether willing or unwillingly
You still agree, as long as there's still this hunger and will in me

Even though the rhyming there isn't as impressive as the first two, it's still pretty good.

I don't personally think the third verse takes too much away from the song. It's a classic regardless.

Now watch the OP, and others, say it was an amazing verse (if they didn't like it before)

It's a fucking great verse.

It's not as good as the other verses (that's why he never used it in a freestyle, I assume), but it's still great. 2007 Eminem could NEVER have wrote that. 2002 Eminem could in a doddle

It was all recorded in 2002ish as well. His voice screams TES-Eminem.

Yeah, there's absolutely NO WAY the third verse is new if only because of the voice. If 2003-2007 Eminem had rapped on that song, it would have stood out like a sore thumb.

Third verse is different, but to me the most emotional and powerful.

some powerful lines in the verse:

"I'd be a savage beast if I ain't have this outlet to salvage me inside
I'd be exploding soaked in self loathing an mourning
So I'm warning you, don't coax me
It's silly, I'm really a sheep in wolf's clothing
Who only reacts when he gets pushed, don't be fooled"

I've always liked it.

I don't dislike songs because of an era or whatever. If I like it, I like it.

I've always thought the third verse was wrote during the Re-Up era.

Maybe he wrote the third verse in 2006, and recorded it in 2002?

Haha, what? He recorded the verse 4 years before he wrote it? lol

And I thought he wrote it in 2006 :confusion:

I dunno, I think the things he says would m'veake more sense if it was written in 2006.

What about the hook? Is that also from 2002?
