The first topic: Life & Hardships

All songs are due on Monday morning before 11:00am.
48 hours will be given to the people for voting. The judges will vote first, allowing us to prevent cheating. Competitors may vote for whoever they wish, but votes for themselves will not count (yeah, we can check).

All verses should be at least 16 lines long with the chorus being at least 4 lines long.

PM all completed songs/verses to me.


Writing Competition

The all new Writing Competition is now accepting applications. Please note: All previous champions will lose the black name. This is your chance to defend your title, or allow someone else to replace you. You will retain your titles until a new champion is announced.

To sign up, simply post in this thread once announcing that you would like to participate. Otherwise, feel free to discuss the competition. Sign up closed.

Prizes:

Currently being decided. Although, black lettering will be given to 2nd, and 3rd place. First will receive a red name

Rules:

1) Friendly Practice - No mentioning the names of any members in your song. No insulting anyone via personal comments, innuendos, or wordplay.

2) Commitment - If you sign up for the competition, you must give a 3 day warning if you plan on dropping out. If you fail to do so, you will be banned from the next (one) competition.

3) New Material - You may not use material from any of your other posted songs or verses. You may not use famous quotes or quotes by anyone other than yourself (including but not limited to other members, actors, philosophers, etc).

Judgment:

The competition will be judged by 3 judges on a unique "TR Scale" that was created specifically for this competition. Of course, we stole most of the ideas from the US National Ice Skating association.

How it works:

Currently Active - Song Stage: 12 song topics (popular and uncommon alike) will be entered in to a random generator. The topic chosen will be given to all members and they will have to write a 2 verse song with a chorus. Judges will select the 3/5/10 personal best (depending on how many participants) and along with popular user vote, those chosen will advance to the verse stage.

Verse Stage: 6 verse topics (ranging in difficulty) will be given to the 3 judges and the members that failed the first stage of the competition. The popular vote topic will be given to the participants. The 3/5 best verses (in accordance to the judges and popular user votes) will advance to the final stage.

Final Stage: Each contestant will choose a random topic (unknown to judges, users, etc) and write a verse. All verses will be sent to a single Mod that will not participate in the voting process, and will be posted for the judges and users to vote anonymously.
