That freestyle is crazy.

Amadeo wrote:Deja Vu

I'd like to say "My Mom," but there's some sloppiness/forced pronunciation in the third verse that the old Eminem just wouldn't have written. Every line he wrote back then was just naturally good.

Deja Vu seems to be the general consensus lol.

Its full of shitt punchlines (some of them are good though) and the shouty delivery is not really enjoyable. It is a good song no doubt, but not even one of the best on Recovery, and definitely not to be compared to anything from his prime.

IMO.

Totally agree with this.

I actually agree, but Almost Famous has so much energy reminiscent of old Em.

Not many. It would be short list.

Maybe 5 tops less even.

Last verse on going through changes is on some TES level.

I'd agree with this, too. And the first/second verse of My Mom.

But as individual songs, GTC/My Mom just don't cut it.

Regarding the Westwood freestyle: I do a hundred yard dash just so slash Kim Kardash in the ass with a shard of glass from Nick Hogan's car crash. You'll end up like the passenger of that, don't be a smartass. <-- That part was sick as fuck.

And then this nostalgic line: "Shit, I done laid a verse... said some foul shit, tried to go back and fix it, fucked it up and made it worse."

That freestyle is insane lyrically.

Amadeo, in your opinion, do you think we'll ever see an Eminem album close to TES level? Of course we've seen glimpses of magic but he's been too inconsistent.

Hell no we won't. If anything were gonna see SSLP stuff (maybe, with BME EP) and since he's only gonna have 1 more album most likely, probably not. If his next album is ANYTHING like TES I'm gonna be very fuckin surprised

A sprinter's PB when he's in his 40s will never come close to his PB in his 20s because he is past his physical prime/over-the-hill. Same thing with Eminem now. Granted, rapping and sprinting aren't the same thing but there comes a point in a rapper's career when everything is "clicking" and working perfectly: the flows couldn't be sharper, the writing couldn't really be better, and the voice/delivery couldn't be better. This was Eminem on SSLP, MMLP and TES.

That's the long answer. Short answer: no.

So you don't think The Warning was a classic Eminem song? That showed he was fully capable of making a song that matches his past material. And I think it really does match it, you might not think so, but I do.

I do like The Warning. But I wouldn't consider it a "classic Eminem song" or classic diss song.

Would you really consider The Warning and I Remember/Quitter to be in the same league?

To be honest, yes. I think The Warning is fucking vicious. Maybe not as a classic diss song, but I do think it's a classic Eminem song. Because the diss itself, was lame as fuck, but the song was venomous. It shut Mariah's mouth up forever, now it's just Nick, but really, no one cares about Nick Cannon.

Makes sense.

I just don't see how he could have made songs such as Deja Vu, GTC, On Fire and My Mom then write a song such as WTP.. doesn't make sense how inconsistent he's been.

Exactly. It proves his still capable of providing top quality music. I'm just hoping that his next album, he's in the zone he was in whilst writing those four songs and forgets about punchlines. If he could do that for a whole album.. we'd be in for an awesome treat. I think I'm hoping for a bit too much, though.
