Official Fitness Thread

Postby Slimm » May 28th, '11, 15:08

I know this could be placed in the Sports forum, and I might do that if this is a succes but this section is more active so.

Share anything about fitness here. Eating schedules, workout plans, stats, progress etc. I know I can't be the only one working out here.

I will be real with you Lello, so I'm not talking towards you as a person right now, I'm talking to you as a 150kg young man.

How on earth is weighing 150kg not enough motivation to get your shit together? Stop being a victim and take some control in YOUR life. Losing your will? Will to what? To run a few miles once a day? To not walk towards the fridge to get a snack? Stop being weak. Where is your winner's mentality? Every time you go to the gym or you run a few miles you win, every time you get a snack you lose. Your confidence is probably pretty low right? It's because you lose every time you get a snack at night and you know it. They say breaking a promise to god is the worst thing on earth, that's nonsense. Breaking a promise to yourself is by far worse. You go through that everyday, and it's time to stop that.

Imagine how good you'll feel when you lose all that weight and gain muscle instead. So you're gonna do it differently today, you're going to that basketball centre tonight to watch the game. But you will not drink any beer, and you will not eat any nachos. You will get some water and you will beat the craving that tells you to get nachos. Nachos is for the weak. Don't even dare to think that that you'll 'start tomorrow' because that is obviously not going to work.

Go to the gym tomorrow, tell the trainer you want to lose weight and keep doing that. It's a win win situation, you will lose weight, and you will gain massive confidence by promising something to yourself and keeping that promise. Afterwards Lello, you'll be god mode and you will come on TR, PM good old Slimmy and thank me for this post.

^ I think there was a picture you posted of you in an England shirt when you said you lost weight before, and you looked in great shape there (no homo). Not sure how long ago it was, but at least it proves that it IS possible and you CAN do it.

You've done it before, and you can do it again :y:

Why should you listen to me?
I have been going to the gym for close to a year now and lost over 20lbs of body fat and gained a great deal of pure muscle mass.

First of all, 90% of losing weight is diet. No matter how often you go to the gym you won't lose weight if you still eat like a pig.

Diet
As far as a diet goes, stay away from eating massive amounts of carbs. Eat foods like pasta and pizza no later than 3:00 P.M. as they are have massive amounts of carbs.
Before you eat I recommend drinking a bottle of water so you fill your stomach up and won't be as hungry.
Eat 4-6 small meals a day instead of 2-3 big ones. Doing this will speed up your metabolism.
Finally, DO NOT eat past 7:00 P.M. You don't want to go to sleep with a full stomach, all that food will turn into fat.

Gym
You need a set schedule if you plan on gaining muscle in an efficient way. For example;
Monday-Chest
Tuesday-Back
Wednesday-Legs
Thursday-Shoulders
Friday-SundayArms and Cardio (If you want to lose weight I would do cardio everyday.)

If you want to looked ripped, do light weight and a lot of reps.
If you want to be strong and have a lot of muscle mass, max out the weight so you can only do 1-3 reps for 1 set.

Now here is the part where a lot of people mess up. You need to eat enough protein a day or all that work will go to waste and you will not gain muscle. I think you need 1.5g (it might be 1g) of protein for every pound of your body weight. So if you weigh 100 lbs you need 150g of protein.

Also, don't be that guy that is lifting a lot of weight but has shit form. Any one can lift heavy weights with incorrect form. Does that mean it's doing any good? No it's just setting yourself up for an injury.
Start off with light weights until you have good form.

Six Pack
I personally don't work on abs since you need below 10% body fat for them to show up. Notice how all the guys you see with a six pack look like a motherfucker that just came out of a Nazi concentration camp.

If you have any questions reply to this post or send me a PM. :y:

lmao, if i follow your diet guidelines i'm gonna go from 175 to 150 in like a month...not a good thing.
Personally, I try to go to sleep with a full stomach just to try maintain my current weight. I went from 150 to 185 in just 6 months before baseball season senior year because i was eating like crazy to try and fill out my body and and add 50 feet to my flyballs. I was at 8000 calories a day by my count. As i retired(lol) after junior college, i was no longer willing to stuff myself that bad so i naturally lost weight.

but i agree, it's all about NOT EATING if you wanna lose weight....exercise does little for you. In fact, you'll be even more hungry and thus eat even more. I suggest doing as little exercise as possible and consuming at most 1000 calories per day for 4 weeks and i guarantee that if you're somewhat overweight, you'll lose 20 pounds.

Nah, I'm doing P90x though. I love the instructor, and you feel BOSS after finishing a workout. I still haven't seen any dramatic change, but I like it enough to keep doing it.

I had a few friends that did P90X that shit looked too intense for me. Change takes time. I don't think I got any results weight wise with Insanity, but my endurance got A LOT better.

you shoulda just picked up a sport as a child (other than baseball) and you wouldn't have to worry about losing weight or being in shape.
