I know you guys like to nut over Eminem's flow but I promise you, it's not good at all. Ask Block, Mc Maybe, Satire, anyone who makes a lot of Hip-Hop and knows a lot about it and they will tell you the same thing. His flow is extremely sloppy, he awkwardly places his rhymes all over the bar causing him to sound off beat, he'll place the middle of a sentence at the end of a bar, pause and then quickly rap the end of the sentence. This makes his flow extremely choppy and all over the place.
He does that on purpose though. It's not a mistake.
He's clearly trying to sound unpredictable and manic, if you're referring to recently.
But, he's always done that in the past too, ending a bar on half a word so that you have to listen for the next line and also to rhyme the first half of the word with the end of the following bar. A lot of rappers do that though, but it's intentional not a fuck-up. I don't agree that he sounds off-beat though (cover this later in post, end up agreeing kind of).
Like Em said, with his first two albums he was trying to catch-up with the beat. He really nailed it with The Eminem Show. But, I think some rappers who some would consider to have better flows - to me at least, sound like they're tryna catch-up with the beat and I think if there's one thing Em has mastered in various styles throughout his career, it's flow.
Not here to debate Sadistik vs. Em as I know nothing about Sadistik. But was just skimming and saw that, and you write it like it's a flaw as if an accident. Whether you like it or not is a separate discussion but, it's on purpose. That bit you said about him speeding up quickly as if to 'fit the bar' in I don't agree with how you put either... he is doing that lately but again, he's clearly switching between fast and slow and messing around with style...
It's not like he couldn't figure out how to fit the bar in so rushed it. Which is what I hear a lot of rappers do when a word doesn't fit or something. But he always manages to get the bars in, and fit a lot of conversation in bars and deliver it all naturally and with a structured (though often manic, these days) flow that intentionally bounces back and forth.
And I think when he does that it takes flow to a more interesting level, to give you the impression you don't know what he's gonna say next all the time. Again, whether it works or you think it sounds shit, or if he's predictable - not relevant to why he's doing it.
But personally, I'd much rather hear that (also does this on "Kill You" a lot) than the straightforward, 'chilled' or predictable flow of most. This is what makes Em sound unique from other rappers I think. Which is why The Marshall Mathers LP doesn't age, the flows are more like conversations so they don't sound corny over time, they sound quicker and sharper.
What he does lately is, well yes he does go off-beat because he normally creates these flows in his head and lately doesn't really seem to care what beat he's on, as he'll just apply the flow anyway and he seems to more-so think his flow is more important than the beat. Like it's literally a subtle and insignificant backdrop. So yes technically he is going off-beat I guess. But because of the fact he always has some kind of 'head structure' to his flow, it never sounds odd to me, and always sounds rhythmically on time to my ears. Whether directly with the beat or not.
But this is the problem with other people producing for Em or, with these 'fuller' beats Em is rapping over. Which is why The Eminem Show flows are so good and his voice 'becomes' the beat, because they're his beats, which he molded around the flows in his head. So they fit perfectly to his rhythm and direction.
PS. Do you mean... that Eminem's CURRENT flows only are off-beat and messy or do you mean, Eminem's flow in general as in, Eminem's past flows too?

What? Of course it does, you just can't seem to envisage through your primitively dim-witted thick monkey fuckin skull. What I said wasn't unfathomable nor extraneous to the matter at hand, dumb ass, yet you just yearn to remain on top of an ill-fated argument as if it's your fuckin boyfriend, you faggot.
