SaJJad - City of Thieves [produced by SaJJad]

Postby Xray » Jun 10th, '11, 06:41

Exclusive track from 'The Darkest'. It's coming don't worry, but in the meanwhile here's the track.

    [verse]
In the city of thieves lies Gotham
And it seems like Heist just robbed em
And I don't play with heights I just drop them
That means that I must of forgot them
Cause the jokes on you when you start them
If you wanna play tough you'll be starvin
Got the world in my claims and it's startin to rotten
Everybody pays but I'm stoppin to bargain
You don't wanna be caught in with pardon
I'll stamp on ya speech like stompin on carton
I'm pissed in blood tryna park in ya apartment
Got vintage cuts but it's often I'm causin'
You're soft and forgotten, a ghost in the oven
My pulse never runnin it's like Joe Budden
Without laws bringing metals to your metaphors
Outshining the world when I let meteors fall

    [hook x 2]
The way I got this knife to your throat
It feels like you got a tuxedo
It's the City of the Dead or the city of debt
When Heist comes to play nobody gets kept

    [verse]
I see the dead from which survival left
My peoples pupils circle all ya deaths
Improving yes from every human flesh
In rule of desk when the tables fed
I got sick dreams of fucking with flash
Leave your 16's in a bucket with gas
Firin octagons when hell comes to play
Fierce ya flesh with helicopter blades
Don't shoulder budge homie I'll show you blood
My shoulders are soldered from wounded guns
Take my hand and let me school you child
Take my chance when I dance with survival
Got a chain made from bones and it's weld for free
Who the fuck needs jewellery (go on tell me)
The only time I rock a piece it's on my teeth
Sit's on for weeks till the flesh sinks in this beast

    [hook x 2]
The way I got this knife to your throat
It feels like you got a tuxedo
It's the City of the Dead or the city of debt
When Heist comes to play nobody gets kept

    In the city of thieves...

This was pretty dope man, the beat was good (extra points for you since you produced it yourself) & I liked alot of the lines in here especially the ones in the chorus & "dont shoulder budge i'll show you blood"
The one line that doesn't really work here & was fucked up both lyric & flow wise was rhyming metaphors with meteors fall. As it's pronounced me tee urs not meh ters. During that bar you also cut off the flow completely which is never a good thing to do. All in all though a good track, keep on recording brah :y:
& you got a pretty stand out voice too which helps in rap a lot.

I liked the beat, could of had a bit more layers but it was nice none the less. The production and mixing was very clean, props on that hommie. At first I was iffy on the rhyme scheme but after the first 4 bars you really went in and it turned out dope. Flow and delivery were really on point man good shit. Love the metaphor line word play. I'm excited to here some tracks other than disses cuz you've been gohst for a while. Great song dude looking forward to the tape. Check out some of my new shit since I haven't herd from you in ages. Good looks.

I agree with Scrubz, also, due to that your flow seemed a lil' rushed during those first 4 bars, but after that you picked it up nicely. Delivery was nice, too. Dope beat! I've got one question, though, could you explain the Budden line? Maybe it's me, but I don't see how that line works?

I'll edit it on the album version. I knew it was pronounced wrong, and I was supposed to fix it before I dropped the track but I forgot about it. But it's no big deal, just change "meteor falls" to "meta falls" haha. And I'm pretty sure meteor falls does rhyme with metaphors.

Thanks man.

Yeah normally I don't keep simple lines like that but I kept it mainly for it's multi and because of it's simple flow to start the track. Didn't want the beginning to seem un-natural and forced.

His known for his "emo" songs....cutting my wrist...I thought that would be pretty simple for you lol.

^With all due respect, X, that isn't a proper punchline, nor proper wordplay. That was way too vague, it could've been anything. ''Pulse running'' could've meant anything, the connection with Emo, and then with Joey is kinda vague, tbh. And how does being Emo tie in with pulse never running? Joe Budden songs aren't known for people that are cutting wrists. And cutting your wrist doesn't necessarily lead to your pulse stopping. Only death leads to that. Or a resetting of the heart.

End rent. (You shouldn't have said that that line should've been simple for me, lol).

U mad cause I mentioned Joey's name in "vein" haha. And who said it was a punch haha, it's a simile. Yes, except I said "pulse never runnin" and not "pulse runnin" as that would mean the opposite, so there's a difference. It is what it is though haha.

I forgot the ''never'', so what? And I'm not mad because you used Joey's name, lol, wtf, why would I be mad at that? I couldn't care less how you use his name. It's just that the simile in question just isn't proper, I'm being serious with you right now, just simply naming Joe Budden as a simile to 'Pulse never running' doesn't work like that. You're being way too vague with your simile, it needs more elaboration, because the connection you're trying to make is too much of a reach.

Take it how you wanna, bro, if you would've rather had me post: ''Wow, dope song, dope lyrics!'' then I'll refrain from feeding, I guess. I'm just looking for something to give you constructive feedback on, because that is what you've asked me to do. And it just so happens that I'm quite good at constructing a verse, lyrics are my forte (without sounding too cocky), and I'm just trying to help a brother out.

Thanks for the feed man. It's a vague connection no doubt, but I wasn't trying to impress anyone with that line. It was merely a fuck around line in all honesty, nothing too special. You even know I don't care about Joe Budden much. And I was kidding bro, lighten up haha. I'm happy with your feedback man, your advice was the main reason I pm'ed you for your input. And lol @ beef between me and Zu...yeah like that will ever happen haha.
