The Best Song on the EP is...

Postby classthe_king » Jun 17th, '11, 04:37

Take From Me.

Yes, I said it.

1) He's actually rapping in the same flow he used to, he's not going fast for the fuck it
2) It is without a doubt his best delivery since The Warning, he has real emotion in it
3) He keeps the punchlines on the downlow outside of the obvious one...
4) He's actually saying something, I don't care if it was for a stupid reason (Satire)
5) This part was epic

They’ll appreciate me when I’m gone, they say it was I’ll, right?
The way I kill mics? But the way I feel right now?
( )
I have nothing else to give you, nothing left to contribute
Farewell I bid you, but before I go, my last gift to you
Ladies and gentleman, Slaughterhouse I give you!

That verse was dope as fuck, if you told me it was from the TES days, outside of voice and quality, I would have believed you

Take From Me > Echo > Everything else but Lighter > Lighter

Anyone who wants to have a real discussion about the EP with me...this is the time. Ignorant stans, stay out.

No. Welcome 2 Hell is on the exact same level as basically every other song on the EP. The only thing that made it stand out was the beat. Havoc murdered that.

Elaborate.

Welcome 2 Hell's rhyming is arguably better than every song since his comeback, outside maybe 3 or 4 songs nothing really comes close in that aspect.

Fast flow actually sounds like it's supposed to sound. Not forced, not repetitive, not scattered all over the place.

Delivery? I loved it but I'm gonna go ahead and assume you didn't.

Some really cool lines here and there. The ending was a killer. Amazing climax.

Honestly, what is wrong with this song? It's almost flawless.

I've said it before and probably always will. But this is probably my favorite song on the EP. It just really connects with me for some reason. Love the chorus.. Although I will say it would have been cool to see that taken in a different direction too. But I'm just more curious more than anything on how else it could have been used.

Now if it's 'the best' may be preference depending on what people value more..

...But putting this song at the top would mean you're in the minority around here, or so it seems..

I've had it as my 2nd favorite since the EP leaked. I love it. I agree with you; my top 3 on the EP are all neck and neck with each other, so for me they're interchangeable.

Honestly, I can't judge the rhyming compared to other stuff because I don't remember shit from his come back but if you break it down it's basically

-Fast rapping for the fuck of it. Eminem is not a good fast rapper, and I will stand by that. Yes the flow is good, but his delivery is not suited for it. It doesn't get you pumped up and there's no energy in it. I would much rather listen to him with a more simple flow such as in The Last Hit. His rhymes also sound better with a slow flow.

-Annoying ass punchlines. Why does he feel the need to use so much wordplay? He is NOT good at it. Before the comeback he rarely ever used wordplay, and if he did he didn't announce it to the world, he was subtle about it.

"You laid down on a stretcher (Don't get carried away now!)"

I would much rather listen to that them him trying to force some stupid ass punchlines, such as that accent/ax sent line.

I just listened to Scary Movies and honestly, after listening to this EP it just shows how much of a generic, watered down version of his old self he is now.

His flow combined with the beat had energy, but his delivery had no energy.

Just listen. It's not about comparing. Just listen to the rhyming, at one point he's rhyming 7 syllables. And so is Royce.

-Fast rapping for the fuck of it. Eminem is not a good fast rapper, and I will stand by that. Yes the flow is good, but his delivery is not suited for it. Now, that I think about it. Yeah his delivery isn't the best for fast rapping. BUT, there definitely is energy in it. One part specifically, that sticks out is where he's like:

"So you better listen quick fast, don't miss it
Yeah, go ahead little prick bastard, diss it
But when you get hit with a sick ass, explicit
Flow don't ask how much his passon is it,
That goes in it, just know that, all he knows is, that
It's better to kick ass than kiss it,
Dick Dastardly of audacity, mental capacity
Unmatched it has to be stopped but..."

You cannot tell me that part DOES NOT contain an insane amount of energy.

Yes...

But, he has improved. Like I've said he either does a good one or a bad one, he's hit and miss with punchlines. There's no decent lines with him. For example, terrible punchline - "I'm done with this shit, I might as well wipe. Good punchline - "Life handed me lemons, I jump back into the public eye
And squirted lemon juice in it by now you just wish I’d fuckin' die"

That doesn't mean it's good. I've been trying to teach you quality > quantity but you aren't seeming to get it. I would much rather listen to him with more simple rhyme schemes, because they sounded better

I don't remember that part exactly but I don't remember in parts where his fast flow has an insane amount of energy so yes I can :coffee:

No. They are mostly all terrible, and if there are decent ones the terrible ones outnumber them 10 to 1. And no, that is not a good punchline. It's an average punchline. It doesn't make a verse but it doesn't kill it either.

First of all, you're not teaching me anything. You're telling me that you prefer creative 2 syllable rhymes to average (creatively) 7 syllable rhymes. Cool. I don't because sonically and in structure-wise, the mutis in this song are impressive. I would go as far as saying that it is superior to the old BME records with the exception of Renegades and maybe Nuttin' To Do & Scary Movie. Rhyming wise, of course. I would W2H 3rd or 4th in BME's discography though.

I don't remember that part exactly but I don't remember in parts where his fast flow has an insane amount of energy so yes I can :coffee:

So, listen again?...

No. They are mostly all terrible, and if there are decent ones the terrible ones outnumber them 10 to 1. And no, that is not a good punchline. It's an average punchline. It doesn't make a verse but it doesn't kill it either.

List 10 TERRIBLE Eminem punchlines on Hell: The Sequel and 1 good punchline from the same album.

Yeah this song sucks lol...I don't like his delivery at all...but it is a lot better than on Recovery. He's still forcing a lot of rhymes and the way he randomly places rhymes it makes his flow seem really bad. At least he's trying to be creative with his concepts though...except the way he's trying to tell a story is really sloppy as well. I guess I'm just used to Slug . It really just reminded me of a knock off As The World Turns and wasn't better in any way.
