Why should you listen to me?I have been going to the gym for close to a year now and lost over 20lbs of body fat and gained a great deal of pure muscle mass.
First of all, 90% of losing weight is diet. No matter how often you go to the gym you won't lose weight if you still eat like a pig.
DietAs far as a diet goes, stay away from eating massive amounts of carbs. Eat foods like pasta and pizza no later than 3:00 P.M. as they are have massive amounts of carbs.
Before you eat I recommend drinking a bottle of water so you fill your stomach up and won't be as hungry.
Eat 4-6 small meals a day instead of 2-3 big ones. Doing this will speed up your metabolism.
Finally, DO NOT eat past 7:00 P.M. You don't want to go to sleep with a full stomach, all that food will turn into fat.
GymYou need a set schedule if you plan on gaining muscle in an efficient way. For example;
Monday-Chest
Tuesday-Back
Wednesday-Legs
Thursday-Shoulders
Friday-SundayArms and Cardio (If you want to lose weight I would do cardio everyday.)
If you want to looked ripped, do light weight and a lot of reps.
If you want to be strong and have a lot of muscle mass, max out the weight so you can only do 1-3 reps for 1 set.
Now here is the part where a lot of people mess up. You need to eat enough protein a day or all that work will go to waste and you will not gain muscle. I think you need 1.5g (it might be 1g) of protein for every pound of your body weight. So if you weigh 100 lbs you need 150g of protein.
Also, don't be that guy that is lifting a lot of weight but has shit form. Any one can lift heavy weights with incorrect form. Does that mean it's doing any good? No it's just setting yourself up for an injury.
Start off with light weights until you have good form.
Six PackI personally don't work on abs since you need below 10% body fat for them to show up. Notice how all the guys you see with a six pack look like a motherfucker that just came out of a Nazi concentration camp.
