Eminem quote: Real?

Postby J.R. » Jun 23rd, '11, 03:12

"As an underground artist starting out, I never wanted to sell out, but I'm sure there are fans who think I have. To them I say, I made pop joints, yes, but my lyrics and flow and command of the beat were always pure hip-hop all the way" - Eminem

I'm almost certain this quote is from his book "The Way I Am." I am sure I read this quote before.

Not sure but apparently the full quote is this:

"As a underground artist starting out, I never wanted to sell out but I'm sure there are fans who think I have. To them I say, I still love you. I dont feel like I made music that sold me out. I made pop joints, yes, but my lyrics and flow and command of the beat were always pure hip-hop all the way. I was spitting the same. The only difference was that a whole lot more popel were checking me out and supporting my art. I hope you understand that I can't control who likes my music or who likes me."

The question is, does this quote still apply to Recovery and its singles?

Yeah it's from the book. I was actually planning on making a topic like this with a pic of the book where he says it, but forgot to do it. :p

So...His beats or the people he aims at or the way he sells might have gone pop...But he's saying his lyrics and lyrical direction are still the same? At least give or take thats what I understand from it. Might be wrong.
