If this was the BME EP tracklist...

Postby EminemBase » Jun 25th, '11, 06:25

1. Welcome 2 Hell
2. Fastlane
3. The Reunion
4. Above the Law
5. I'm On Everything
6. A Kiss
7. Living Proof
8. Echo
9. Take from Me
10. Loud Noises

It'd be a fucking brilliant EP. It's still a good EP but...

Just listening to it again now and I really love those first five songs and think they all flow perfectly into each other. "A Kiss" is good too but my least listened to track, then if you got rid of "Lighters", added the bonus tracks in like that, every track would work.

^ I know man. I'm listening to the EP with headphones on now.

Didn't realize they make such a difference too, shitty PC speaker(s) (one broke).

And... I just listened to the first six tracks in order, and they all work perfectly and are all great tracks. Then BAM, experience ruined / chain of excellence broken.

I don't even hate the song that much. The chorus is corny but it's more so just the fact it's on this EP. I would say I'm even more annoyed than "Beautiful" being on Relapse but... I think that's still more annoying to me. Given how much I love Relapse.

I actually like Em's verse too, especially the flow switch-up and the emphasis and weird way he says 'refusing' / 'using' / 'excuses' etc. Weird and unique. And the 'lacklustered' / 'flustered' section is structured nicely. Verse would of been right at home on Recovery. But it's a Marshall verse, not an 'Evil' verse. So yeah, the song being on the EP, annoying as shit.

Yeah that's the most annoying thing he's done in his career thus far to me.

I'd tolerate another fucking album of "Lighters" to get Relapse 2.

If he had taken everything to the proper extreme with those albums and TRULY ignored people like he said he would, and not been a fucking baby... man, it could of been a mind-blowing era. I wish I could control Eminem lmao. Like a puppet. Just use his talents and brain to create the music I want from him and stop him ruining it in small ways.

Even Recovery man. There's some seriously amazing music there but again, he fucks up the end result in a big way, with the producers. I feel like ripping my hair out lmao. Because he keeps nearly getting things perfect but then just tarnishing it in some way.

If Recovery was produced by him and tbe Bass Bros, same songs, same lyrics and a few more Em choruses rather than the samples (which you wouldn't have with quality Bass Bros prod anyway) then I honestly think it'd be a classic. I never knew how much of a difference production made until he hashed all that greatness with them hacks.

I mean, just imagine "Cold Wind Blows" with a simple, melodic, quality, musical Bass Bros beat. It'd be hip-hop heaven. The track is fucking classic anyway and the beat is one of the better ones. Problem with the production throughout is it's too clashy, too much going on.

Skip Lighters every time. It's a good song for what it is, but I feel awkward as fuck listening to it. Especially on this EP. So out of place.

I think Em is already out of his Alex Da Kid phase...at least I hope so.

Maan I love Lighters as a song, but not as a song in this Ep. 100* times better in recovery.

I don't even like Lighters as a song, tbh. I won't say it's bad, but I feel extremely awkward while listening to it. And both Em and Royce both sound awkward on the track to me too...

Yeah. The formula of 'emotion + spacey pop-rock-rap beat + spacey pop-ballad chorus' is getting predictable and repetitive now.

Just need creativity now. Enough emotion and songs for their own sake.
