I have always really liked this song. Not amazing technically but do I really care? No. I appreciate the song for what it is and in my opinion, it's one of the highlights from Encore.

Plus it's one of the most unique songs and emotional songs he's ever made

The emotion conveyed on Hailie's Song is incredible. He displays it with two verses which he sings and one fantastic verse at the end. The singing gets a lot of hate but it's actually pretty good. As I've said before, it's not an incredible vocal performance but it's impressive. He's a rapper at the end of the day and he actually sung pretty well. Also, the last verse of Hailie's Song is crafted so well, it's just a pleasure to listen to. TES was Em at his best in my opinion.

Mockingbird gets a lot of hate because of its writing among other things. I enjoy it for what it is, it's one of the highlights from Encore and that whole era for me. I don't listen to it to hear impressive lyricism. It is what it is and it does its job well.

Hailie's Song > Mockingbird

I've read that Eminem almost didn't put HS on Eminem Show, but some girls' reactions to it made him change his mind. I feel that he made Mockingbird simply to have an emotionly Hailie-releated song on Encore. That's not to say I think Mockingbird is bad though. It's not by any stretch of the imagination.
