But I do admit that some of the beats/flows that suit the rest of the group don't necessarily suit Joey's style (he even admits this himself), and subsequently he doesn't always stand out like he should. Individually though, he is eons ahead of all the other members.
Really? I always though Royce is the best member with Budden being third and Ortiz fourth. Crooked I is the rapper that best belongs in a group and his solo work isn't really good.
Solo Work: Royce>Budden>Crooked>Ortiz
However I have only heard freestyles and one song called "she said" by ortiz so I guess it isn't a strong statement. Budden and Royce is debatable. I have only heard mood Muzik 4/4.5 which was dope. His songs seem boring and doesn't standout imo. Out of the whole album I only kept certain tracks on my ipod knowing the rest I will never listen to. I think at this point, we all can agree that Ortiz is the weakest right?
If you thought Mood Muzik 4 was dope then you really should check out the rest of his work. To me Budden is a lot like prime Em - he makes that storytelling, emotive music but is also technically brilliant. People who have been through similar things as him can relate to him very well which is why he has such a strong fanbase. Check out the first 3 Mood Muzik mixtapes and Padded Room for starters. Listen to songs like "Whatever It Takes", "Walk With Me", "Now I Lay", "Pray For Me", "Dum Out", "All Of Me". Whereas Royce and Crooked are good at pure spitting, for me Joe has another dimension and is able to make songs which much stronger themes because of how personal his content is. But if you strictly like that battle-type of hip-hop and aren't too fussed about the deeper kind of music then you prolly won't be able to relate to Budden's stuff as much.
As for who is the weakest out of Slaughterhouse, I really don't know. Ortiz is very technically impressive at times, but so are Royce and Crooked.
