2010/2011 may be the best years for me as a fan of rap ever

Postby Malcom West » Jul 20th, '11, 23:47

Seriously, almost EVERY artist I follow and look forward tot heir albums has put out stuff or is supposed to by the end of the year.

Like, there's rappers like Royce or Wu who I'll check their shit out and enjoy it, but I don't anticipate it. Basically, the rappers I'm talking about I'd be real pissed if they delay/shelve an album.

The following have dropped (or are scheduled to drop) an album/mixtape in 2010 0r 2011:

Eminem
Kanye
Jay-Z
Lil Wayne
Lupe Fiasco
Kid Cudi
The Game
50 Cent
Nas
Common
Dr. Dre (hey, it's SUPPOSED to drop this year  )
Big Boi
Tech N9ne
T.I.

I mean, damn, so many HUGE rappers have dropped shit. And I can name tons of other guys like Tyler, Curren$y, Pusha T, etc.

The only real superstar rapper I'm waiting for news on is Andre 3000, and he has an album in the works that theoretically could drop this year. Once him and Big Boi drop their 2 albums, NEW OUTKAST!

I don't think I've ever pissed my pants waiting for albums as much as I have the past 2 years :coffee:

Whoever says rap is dead is a jackass. It's obviously alive and well. :y:

Biggest album I'm anticipating is probably Watch the Throne.

No doubt. Kanye and Jay owe me for the years they've taken off my life way I'm stressing over it. IDK how much you follow them,, but the amount of secrecy/uncertainty around this album is insane.

Hopefully Otis drops tonight though!

Oh and add my boy Drake to that list, my b Drizzy. October 24th, Drake proves if he's a great artist or not.

Then go sit in the corner with Consequence and Beanie Siegel and don't listen. Your loss.

2011 has been pretty good so far, nothing too great but we did get new Atmosphere, Tech N9ne, Vakill, Childish Gambino, Swollen Members (just recently got into the last 3) & Lil Wayne :shifty:

Been meaning to check out that Grieves album everyone's praising too.

I sense 2012 being a better year for rap though.

& @K Reidy RAW dropped in 2010.

Haha I was just listing the huge guys with albums I can't wait for. But yeah those were all dope.

We can also add Yelawolf, Kendrick Lamar, Lloyd Banks, Snoop, Wiz, Fabo, it goes on and on. Plus all the underground/backpacker shit.

And THEN you got the new wave of guys like Frank Ocean and The Weeknd, and Chris Breezy's album was great.

And Venom, the Grieves album wasn't my thing but On The Rocks is AMAZING! Check it.

I kinda doubt it, but I can see it going two ways:

1) Be an okay album, have bangers but basically just be a typical 2011 rap album. Songs like Bottles & Rocking Jays.

2) Be a great, soulful album that can compete with his debut. Songs like Pot Of Gold (Breezy's hook is :worship:)
