That's because bands like Sum41 are for children. I want to say so many things right now but I'd doubt you would care, considering your apparent total lack of knowledge on music outside of rap.

You don't know anything about rock, your naming off bubble gum rock

Maybe bubble gum rock has gotten worst, Idk I stopped listening to that stuff when I was 16

You grew out of rock. But seriously, rock isn't even a proper genre name anymore. There are so many different subgenres apart from the ones you just mentioned. You seem to like poppy teenage punkrock, which was indeed pretty good back in the days. But stating that rock fell off and that everything is gay is just so damn ignorant that I don't even know where to start.

Nothing happened to them, something happened to you.

Put simply, you grew out of em. Simple Plan were embarrassing and if you seriously used to like them then you are even gayer than I already suggested. "HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN TO MEEEEEEEE!11!111", good God it's the epitome of emo kid. Linkin Park faded because they couldn't keep doing the same music forever, and once they tried to change, their appeal was gone. Sum 41 I honestly only know one song by. Blink 182 I still maintain that I quite enjoy though.

Point is, that isn't neccessarily "rock". Blink 182 are more punk, Linkin Park is Nu Metal, Simple Plan is fucking hilariously emo. You seem to be throwing basically any music with guitars that aint rap into the "rock" category, which honestly doesn't surprise me. But yeah, nothing "happened". It's the same as it's always been. Everyone looks back on the music they listened to when they were younger and thinks it doesn't compare to current day. It's just a part of growing up.

I'm really sorry most of you guys haven't discovered good rock music. I used to hate rock music when I was younger because I associated the wrong things with it, I felt like only Rap was cool and the rest was stupid. Then I listened to this rock album and it literally changed my life, it opened up the door to not only rock music but to a dozen other genres I would of never known about if I hadn't listened to that record.

It's safe to say that being open minded about music will have you discover great things.

Agreed, If you don't limit the music you listen to your open to a whole lot of potentially great albums. Especially as you will of missed past classics from other genre's.

Word man. It's a shame to see people dismissing certain genres without even listening to it, but it's their loss I guess.

Even though they went pretty shitty afterwards, this is what sparked my love for rock music. It possesses so much attitude, emotion and swagger it's really good. I think if I heard the record around this time it would of been different, but this still has a special place in my heart.

Ska still remains my favourite non-hip hop genre, i'm sorry. Can't beat it.

@Slimm, I don't even particularly hate KOL tbh, it's just I heard Sex On Fire and Use Somebody enough times to last me two lifetimes.

People interested in Rock should dive in slowly. I remember getting a mp3 player as a young punk ass, and it had a bunch of John Lennon. Me being a ripe young pup, I didn't like it at all.

Fast forward to now and I'm a rabid Beatles junkie.

I found that's the big difference from rap. I'll never grow into liking Lil B, but I can grow into loving bands.

I really get my genres confused lmao, no idea how to tell where it all goes...Rock-wise (I think) I only listen to Evanescence, the Beatles (or more specifically Lennon), Led Zeppelin, Nirvana and Motorhead, but I don't even know whether or not people classify that as rock.

Forgot Guns n Roses, they're awesome.
