Nice. You start with Amityville, and end up on 8 Mile. I declare me being right and you being whipped.

If I made a thread for every song that's better than Lose Yourself I'll probably fill 3 pages of this section so I won't do that.

I'm just saying you're overdoing it already. This is basically the same as your Stimulate > Lose Yourself thread.

But I couldn't really compare the two and make any sense of it. It'd be like calling a horror movie better than a drama... they're not really comparable. As they aim for different things.

Overall, I'd pretty much always rather hear him spitting seething, lyrical madness than real-life tribulations anyway. But, overall, "Lose Yourself" is still 'better' music.

I don't just compare multies and decide which is better like a fucking tit for tat test lmao. This is art not science, when people do things like this it cheapens the individualism and expressive beauty of lyricism and creativity. It's not an objective battle of multies.

It's gotta be a whole package. But like I say, I can't really compare a verse with him rapping about slapping bitches with verses about him overcoming hardship. They're different worlds.

Actually, that makes sense. What irritates me though, is that people say Lose Yourself is Eminem's best song cause of the ~unique~ rhyme scheme, other than that ? Nah it isn't emotional .. Eminem had a ton of raw emotions in tracks that are more impressive than Lose Yourself such as Sing For The Moment, Way I Am and others .. That's why when people say Lose Yourself has an incredible rhyme scheme I only compare the multi's .. I was always the type to prefer a song musically over lyrically, but cause of the way people overrate Lose Yourself I just had to make this thread.

I would probably agree it's his best overall song too. But not just because of multies. It'd be retarded to call any of his songs his best for a sole reason such as that.

It's as much about what he's saying as how he's saying it, and "Lose Yourself" is a very poetic ode to hardship and making something of yourself. And the music and its presentation is just superb, I heard Em say "Eye of the Tiger" was an inspiration for it or something, or that it's rap's version of it.

But he didn't say it in a cocky way as in it's THAT good, he said it like, that's where he got the vibe for it from and there's a hint on why it's like it is.

I think whenever a song is rated such as "Lose Yourself"... as much as there's people who don't really understand or care about its true brilliance and simply jump on the bandwagon, there are an equal amount of annoying turds who go out of their way to call it overrated just to seem different lmao.

I never play that game. If something deserves its praise, then it deserves it. Regardless of how many people like it or how much I want to stand out and say I don't like it. "Lose Yourself" is definitely not overrated and deserves all the praise it gets. Comparing multies won't get you far as that's such an arbitrary aspect, relative to the whole musical puzzle with that song.

Every element of it contributes to its wonder. It's a classic song and one of the first REAL hip-hop anthems, it feels like a classic musical staple like a huge rock track or something. Em has a knack for creating classic melodies that sound like they've been around 100 years or something. Same with the "Cleanin' Out My Closet" melody.

It's not just about emotion either. And emotion isn't just about how loud you yell. He balances realistic thoughts and anxieties in a tight web of consistent, driven rhymes and delivers it all incredibly clearly and passionately. And the hook is no doubt one of his greatest hooks too. As is the concept of the hook, outside of over-familiarity it never really seems to get old or corny. So I disagree, I don't think it's overrated at all.

Though the sentiment of it is bullshit - 'you only get ONE shot'... even though Em had about fifty before he made it lmao. And so do most. You don't only get one shot, you get as many shots as you're willing to take after getting back up from the last shot you missed. But, in the bigger scheme of things, I get what he means, implying 'only one shot at life'... 'at this game'... it works in a poetic sense but realistically, not so much.

C.R.E.A.M, I'm not trying to encourage you to stop posting, but if you'd open up a thread "Why I think Stimulate, Amityville etc are better than Lose Yourself" and point out more things that make these songs superior then it'd be a better basis for a good argumentation thread, as opposed to just highlighted rhyming.

Bumping a dead thread I know, but I thought it was funny that the OPs reasoning was the rhyming. When in Lose Yourself he rhymes nearly every word in the first verse (don't know about the second or third verse though).
