Blasting 'Relapse' in Headphones

Postby EminemBase » Jul 30th, '11, 09:48

I've said it a million times and I'll say it again, I fucking love Relapse.

Currently on "Insane", and this isn't even one of my favourite tracks from the album but it sounds fucking badass in these headphones.

This album is such an Eminem album, he's totally comfortable and loving it. Such a crock of shit that followed to win back fans, you can so tell he loved this material to hell. It's so meticulous and brilliant, and Dre's bombastic production compliments it perfectly.

Man, just two fucking tracks that spoil it at the end. I've eased up on "Beautiful" 'totally' ruining it a bit. As the guitar does kinda fit after "Deja Vu" but the style is still totally out of place. But hearing "Lighters" on Hell: The Sequel made me realize it's not half as bad.

But "Crack a Bottle" too. Man, if those weren't there, it'd be top to bottom brilliance.

Cause of this album and the Tim Westwood freestyle I consider 2009 as a flash of Eminem's prime, it's awesome. :worship:

The "Microphone" (09) freestyle is fucking amazing.

I bet that was an unused verse for Relapse 2 or a song's verse that he obviously didn't end up using due to the fact he made Recovery instead.

It's so fucking frustrating as he was getting so... I dunno, outside of the complex rhyming and beautiful flows he was making loads of literary references and just seemed an even more intelligent lyricist than even his prime.

I bet Relapse 2 was a fucking classic. Gone forever. Stupid fucking hypocritical cunt going back on his word and bowing to pressure, so annoying. Lost some respect for that.

Not as good but, even prime Eminem, as genius as his left-field wit etc. was he didn't do things like refer to himself as Rumpelstiltskin lmao. Which is just an awesome reference, and how the fuck does he even know that, he always surprises me with weird references and old... old American myths and fairytales that he makes eloquent in some way.

Relapse sucked, Recovery is amazing, and I am so grateful that Eminem saw the light and dropped Recovery, but Relapse dissapointed me SO MUCH.

Relapse had flashes of brilliance
- Same Song & Dance
- Stay Wide Awake
etc

but Recovery is the superior album, superior product, and a better music album for me.

and this is coming from a longtime fan of Eminem (since '99/00), and a person who hates commercial music, doesn't listen to the radio, and thinks 98% of the top 40 is bullshit.

THANK YOU MARSHALL :worship:

If Em can drop a few more albums before he retires and they are the same level as Recovery, I will be very happy. Just want a normal voice with clarity like the old days. Not something I have to rewind 60 times to figure out what the fuck he saying.

Recovery definitely isn't superior MUSICALLY.

You think those awful, clashy, typical, tacky beats on Recovery are superior to Dre's weird, crisp, loud, bombastic beats of Relapse?

I like Recovery too and overall it's amazing. The highs of it are wonderful and it has some of my favourite Em tracks in a long time on it. But the production massively ruined it for me, and a lot of people. It's so clashy and bad, and there's a lack of one true sound.

I wouldn't say Relapse only had flashes either. You could say that about Recovery. There's no weak tracks but, only a handful are TRULY wonderful and flashes of his true brilliance. I think almost every Relapse track is class, the rhyming and flows are so tight and unique.

Only weak tracks are the ones that weren't made for the album anyway "Beautiful" and "Crack a Bottle". And he did all his own hooks, which were awesome. He's stopped doing his hooks since, way too many samples and features on Recovery.

If Em had produced Recovery and did most of the hooks I think it could of been a classic.

I also think a lot of the high-strung, hyper-focused, meticulous rhyming and eloquence of Relapse is far superior to forced emotion and puns on some of Recovery. I think Recovery wins overall due to the best of each, songs wise, but Relapse is better in many areas.

So where did you think the Westwoood freestyle he did in 2010 was from?

I think he probably wrote that especially for the Westwood appearance.

Doesn't sound like an album verse as he has a lot of 'stun' lines, the kinds of which he always goes for in freestyle environments. Sounds as if it was written to be used as a freestyle verse.

You can always tell as his album verses have more of a direction and aim. They're always more deftly written, with a inevitable end or something.

Where as his freestyle verses are more sporadic, and often better in my opinion. I wish he'd write like he does with those verses, on albums. I mean, "Despicable" is fucking amazing. And better than a lot of Recovery.

Eminem - Bet Awards 2009 Cypher
Like a dope fiend, opening up a bottle of Dopamine,
he goes to get the rope to your throat he can choke anything.
Oh and just think, how dope he could be if he smoked anything,
oh there goes the bell, the sound of the opening ding.
I hit you as hard as barbiturates in the ribs with a switch,
and stitch you at the same time before you can flinch to it.
My dick is so big if I add another inch to it,
You would swear when I rape you that you were actually into it.
I'm not a baller but you can bet your fuckin bottom dollar,
that I remember when I was without a dollar bill in my wallet.
Now watch me kill a koala, while I maul a chihuahua,
bum a pill off of Paula like let me holla at you mama.
It's like I'm off the ba-ba when I bring the fuckin drama,
I used to bomb ya like Saddam but now that I'm a little calmer.
I'm a fuckin cross between Osama, Dahmer, Obama, and Dalai Lama,
told Miley I'm a knight in shining armor.
Mail a gift to Taylor Swift's trailer, a picture of my genitalia,
with a note sayin bitch I can't wait to nail ya.
Drug paraphernalia, beware the werewolf will kill ya,
that's him in his sheep's clothes he just shaved his hair off Cecilia.

listening to this makes me wonder is it the same person that wrote Recovery and the songs that followed .

News flash, I’m still trashed them pills should have killed my ass,
But they didn’t they just made me stronger, it’s like they re-built my ass,
Like the six-million dollar man after the crash, it’s Aftermath bitch,
And my milk glass, is still half-empty, yeah tempt me,
Hell isn’t enough they need to invent somewhere new to send me,
As sick as I’m getting they’ll stick me in a conventional oven
With the Rotisserie setting and won’t even notice me sweating,
Shit I done laid a verse, said some foul shit,
Tried to go back, fix it, fucked around and just made it worse,
Yah I’m back, looking no worse for wear,
Got these haters mad another rip out their hair and start punching the air,
Panties sewn in a bunch, and they can’t function,
It’s Shady and Royce, Fuck yeah, what a dysfunctional pair,
So stop acting like a punk, get a pair
Take a pill out and fall the fuck out, spill your lunch in the chair,.

I’ll do a hundred yard dash just to slash Kim Kardash in the ass,
With a shard of glass from Nick Hogan’s car crash,
You’ll end up like the passenger of that; don’t be a smart ass,
Yeah laugh while you sit there thinking that he hard part passed,
You ain’t seen pain until leather face flips mayne,
I’ll cut your fucking balls off homie my saws off the chain,
I chop the bitch in half with it, sawed off her legs,
And the top half of the torso fucking crawled off, insane!
I ain’t seen shit like that until I went to Mike Jack’s,
Took the elephant man’s skull, fucked it and put it right back,
Handed my dick to Bubbles while he sucked it and licked my nut sack,
Gave him a reach around while I fucked him right in his butt crack,
Naw, I ain’t taking it back faggot, fuck that,
I give a fuck about nothing so here’s where you fucked up at,
Don’t go touching that can man you don’t want to open up that,
Wait a min…ahh shit, Alchemist, cut that.

Really?
