Lyrically that shit was weak, while I agree that some people on here ignore plenty of sick UK rap if it doesnt include lowkey or rhyme Asylum I am not gonna include this crap!

good subject matter is good but not the be all and end all. It comes down to skills, you can still spit gangster but still be lyrically tight with ill rhyme schemes and dope wordplay!

The track you uploaded is not tight at all. Lyrically the shit was straight up wack!

Because it takes skill and time to write intricate rhyme schemes. You can't put this bloke up there with Lowkey and Rhyme Asylum skill wise, not even sound wise. That track was just him bragging about how he is a "boss". It doesn't have much substance and he was talking nonsense for the most part. Obama Nation sounds great, has substance and is very well written, more than I can say about the track you posted.

You can't forget that lyrics play a major part in hip-hop. If you're wack lyrically, you're not really going to go far unless you can make a massive hit. *cough* Soulja Boy *cough*

On the flip side, I do really enjoy Skepta. He's not amazing technically but some of his music (particularly his Westwood Freestyle in 09) is quality.

Lyrics don't mean shit.

Why do you think all those nerds like classtheking and the rappers he idolises are nobodys in the music world?

It's all about how your music sounds, fuck lyrics

anyone can write "decent lyrics" and "good rhyme schemes" if thye spend long enough on it, not everyone can make music that SOUNDS good.

They really are. Its like multi's are the be all and end all.
Dont get me wrong, multi's can be impressive, but it doesnt make the song, its like an added bonus.

I wouldn't consider them nobodies. Maybe in terms of the mainstream, but that doesn't account for much. Souja Boy made it, but is he respected? No. class is a huge fan of Copywrite - all because he hasn't made it does not discredit his skill.

However, Eminem can definitely be considered a "nerd" in regards to his writing. He's so intricate with his schemes and he's obviously far from a "nobody" in the music world. He's one of the biggest artists today. A lot of rappers who take pride in their writing are big in the music world. Another example would be Jay-Z.

Of course the sound is a major factor in music, that's the whole point of music. I'd never dispute that. Although I think you're forgetting that multi's generally make rap music sound better. Have a listen to Diabolic's "I don't wanna rhyme" then listen to a track from Soulja Boy. Which track sounds better? It's obvious.

Also, not "anyone" can write intricate rhyme schemes. There's not a lot of people who could do what Eminem has done, even if they spent a lot of time practicing. Writing schemes like Eminem did SSLP-TES will not be matched or surpassed by a lot of rappers.

Let's use football as an example. It may not be the best example, it gets the point across. You could argue "anyone" could be a professional if they stuck to it and put enough time into it, but it isn't the case. There's not a lot of Messi's or Ronaldo's are there?

Like I said, the sound is the main factor. I'm just trying to put across that it takes skill to write at a certain level, and that generally adds more to the sound of music.

What kind of proof do you have? Is it an active account, or just an old account?
