I see what you're trying to do here. It's not
quite executed properly but, for anyone who is a fan of Aesop or the likes, it's easy to identify with.
As stated above, there's too much reverb on the overlays. That could be turned down and kept only where it actually fits. (like in the first verse what 'self' echoes all over the place) << It sounds really good there. and the actual echoes. It could possibly just be the volume of them, though.
Another thing I noticed is that your voice doesn't sound
animated enough for this type of hip hop. It sounds a little flat. Not so much monotone (as I can sense the meaningful dullness in your voice; much like aes's), but just not animated enough. Your pitch doesn't fluctuate enough to sound as if it's riding with the instrumental. (if that makes any sense at all? haha)
Other than that, your flow is pretty good. Again, reminiscent of Aesop and JFB.
The instrumental fit perfectly, even if not panned / mixed 100% correctly lol. I still love it when people use all original instrumentals and such. So that's a plus. Nothing has to be perfect.
So yeah, man, this was good. Just work on animating your voice a little more (I'd listen to a
None Shall Pass to get what I mean.. If you haven't already gotten it).
By the way, since you seem to be a fan of this type of music, have you ever checked out Jellyfish Brigade? They make this type of hip hop, and they're dope as shit. I posted a thread in HHD about them if you want to check it out.
Here.
