Hmm, I really hoped this would be the return of the lyrical monster that is Jay-Z. Shortly after the release of Blueprint 3, he said that his next album wouldn't go no. 1 and it really sounded like he wanted to make a real classic. Considering how little they've done to promote it, it could have been that non-comercial classic that he hinted it would be. Sadly it just seems like a lot of nonsense (unless you care about someone bragging about their wealth) and some of the beats are quite disappointing. He, Kanye West, should have produced it all by himself in my opinion.

Anyways, I probably have to give it a few more spins but I doubt I'm ever going to enjoy it that much.

This album highlights the weakness of Kanye and Jay-Z dramatically. Without good production, you have 2 average at best lyricists rapping about either: random shit, bragging shit that's neither clever nor funny or compelling.

I played this a few times, then ignored it in favour of Success Is Certain.

It's typical Kanye West overproduced bullshit.

In the words of Len Goodman...

Some of the retarded comments here amaze me.

This album is very dope. People say it's concept-less??? Seriously??? I've only listened once, it's blatantly themed. The whole album is contrast, good/evil, racism/survival, religion/reliance on man, wealth/greed. This is very very good. As with any Kanye or Jay album, I'mma have to listen multiple times to get a good feel.

I really like the feel of it, very European and fresh. It's dope, like nothing before.

The lyrics are great, neither disappoint.

I'll review it when I get a better feel for it.

Listened through. It is quite "big" sounding and the concepts work with the sound, but, quite simply, they aren't very compelling,

The lyrics are nothing special. Kanye was quite predictable. Jay-Z was good on his first verse of the album and I was pretty excited. But every other verse from him is dull, as I expected.

Will give it a chance with a few more listens.

No. And frankly it's not a 10/10 album or instant classic or anything. MBDTF is better. This is probably me least favorite Ye album minus 808s, but we'll see.

If you don't pick up on the blatant themes and overtones, do you fools listen to music or just skim through it? Kanye NEVER makes a purpose-less, superficial album.

The albums incredibly good, nothing I wasn't feeling. And like I said, I'll have to listen multiple times. MBDTF wasn't the classic it is to me at first.

Well I only have listened one time through the whole album but i'm sure gonna listen to it again before I judge it, i liked it but it's really not the BIG album everyone was expecting.

I liked Lift Off, Gotta have it and few other songs. But sometimes i feel like they tried too hard to make it "epic", i don't know.

Really? It felt less "epic" than MBDTF, songs like New Day, No Church, etc were very low key.

IDK, I'mma have to listen a lot, it's a very new sound of hip hop. Which is dope.

For now, I'm just happy it wasn't like HAM. Paris kinda was, but it was dope.

Yeah, at least it sounded like that to me but i was falling asleep while listening to it. (not because it's bad, i was tired.) and now i'm listening track by track again.

I'll give my opinion later.

Honestly just not a fan of Jay-Z any more.. He's too dull to me, and I always feel like he's just rambling on because of it, no matter how nice what he's spitting is.

But overall.. Kanye I was very happy with. The beats are SO much better than Twisted Fantasy, and his flows were better as well. I wish the album could have been Ye and some other rapper.. Even Wayne would have been better on this album I think.

Matter of fact I bet Kanye and Drake could make a solid album together.

Have only listened once so far, but I'll come back with my favorites after a few more.
