Pound for Pound Best Rapper Of All Time?

Postby EyeSpick » Aug 10th, '11, 07:54

In the past few years I've noticed people all really coming to the consensus that Big Pun & Biggie are the only real rappers deserving of GOAT. Maybe not everyone but easily more than 75% of real hip-hop heads. Both were masters of flow and easily the best lyricists of their time period. It's come to my attention that Pun was slightly bigger than Biggie most of his career. Doesn't that make it easy to conclude that Pun matched Smalls and still had a couple extra pounds impeding his breath control and damaging his delivery? I mean it's like if he was a blind basketball player or a paralyzed Muay Thai fighter yet he still came with ravaging flows and that, in my opinion, is more impressive than what Biggie ever did. Apply this debate against any rapper, Pac or KRS-One (the only real runner ups), and you still come up with BP on top. RIP Pun GOAT :worship:

You obviously don't know a lot about hip-hop^

Eminem has never even been a part of the rap culture.

Sorry but I don't think Lebanon was the heart of a cultural movement, unless it's one of the 5 boroughs. Besides Pac, who spent a majority of his child hood in Brooklyn, I don't think West Coast or foreign rappers should even be in contention. New York has always been the mecca of hip-hop. If a rapper can't battle or freestyle then you can tell he's not from the Big Apple.

Eminem is probably the only rapper to really test the sanity of humanity really...2 Pac was close tho, so was Ice Cube, but seriously people, Em has had the most impact on this generation 90s-00s kids rapping...It's all in the evidence, but like that other dude said in the other thread, Em was influenced by 80s rappers too, basically it's like Em is passing the rap genes to us.

Em made himself out to have been a 2 bit white-t wearing poor dude that most of suburbia can relate to.
And it's true, Em was white trash.

Lello wrote:ofc new rappers will be influenced by old ones, how do they start to rap in the first place? by having rappers as their heros and learing from them, but that doesn't mean they can't be better than what came before, Eminem topped almost everyone that has influneced him and been before him in the rap game, including Nas by his first 3 official releases (sslp, mmlp, tes)

Em has surpassed many of the rappers he listened to skill wise, it's also most astonishing that he even managed to pull it off, seeing as hip-hop was starting to decline during the late 90s.
He basically gave it a boost.

Lello wrote:he injected life to it, em's arrival was probably one of the best things for hip-hop, and now he's doing the influencing part, and new artists will be influenced and make their own style and prosper, one of them for me is Hopsin, just like Em learned from his heroes, hopsin did learn from his heroes, mix that with his incredible talent, if he happens to blow up, he will also boost life into hip-hop, nowadays, the best rappers are underground, something has to be done, to get the talented noticed and the flockas flushed out

It's pretty annoying how after 20 years, hip-hop spikes and goes to a dramatic decline, and then spike in '08 as soon as the new wave of swag rappers took ever around that time.

Em was sitting there wondering what the fuck was happening to the industry..
Don't get me wrong, a lot of other rappers kept it real, Busta, Jay-Z etc..But seriously, Em has been one of the biggest influences on hip-hop in general..Almost everyone I talk to has said they have heard TMMLP and base there style off the rebellious foul-mouthed swagger from those lyrics.

The sheer anger that was with us in the 90s ignited again now.
That's the way music is man...It's art and helps people cope, Em was just the leader.

please welcome eyespick, the new dumbfuck that graced TRshady with his shitty presence,ma man lello be killing you nikkaz!

and im a huge fan of pun and biggie

but they both have very short bodies of work, both died before they career prospered, both high points dont match up or come close to those of Em and Nas in they prime, both didnt contribute enough to hip hop, still amazes me how pun with all the weight could flow like he used too but not enough, not at all.
The devil ain't on a level same as him!

"Mr. Madison, what you just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response did you even come close to something I could deem a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points and may God have mercy on your soul."

In terms of rapping skills, Em was much better than both Pun and Biggie (No disrespect, they are amazing but tons of rappers have accomplished this)

In terms of being black (Which is what I assume your talking about) Em fails big time.
