So what profound influence did Em have on the genre that really changed it that no other before him have done? No, I'm not talking about surbuban teens dying their hair blonde and mimicking his lyrics, nor am I referring to him simply changing the direction Hip Hop was in since he blew up, I'm talking about changes he made to the genre that can be directly attributed to him and have a long lasting impact. And wtf is this bullshit about rap in dire need of Eminem, not slighting Eminem, but the year Eminem debuted and 2000, rap was in phenomenal shape two of some of the best years it's been in, I think you guys are confusing 1997 when the shitty jiggy era was taking place.

As for this thread probably Black Thought, lol at the op.

I think that the best basketball player ever is some dude that just played with his friends, streetball player. He is the best ever, Fuck Kobe and Jordan, but he stayed underground because he didn`t wanted to be a part of the NBA evil.

Prime Em is easily the most versatile and impressive rapper of all-time. The Marshall Mathers LP is more ingenious and groundbreaking than anything any other great ever did.

His combination of wit, melody, rhyme, flow... Em is the GOAT. No rapper is able to pull off as many styles and personalities so well either.

Em can pull of psychotic, genuine, heartbreaking, motivational, tongue in cheek. He's got the best sense of humour of any rapper for one thing. And I'm not talking his goofiness or silly singles. I mean his wit. The biting wit of his prime (99-02) is totally unmatched.

Somebody doesn't have to have an influence on the genre for them to be a GOAT.

I think if the 'greatest' of all-time means anything which makes any sense, surely it should mean the rapper that can do the most in the best ways. And that's not as true for any mainstream rapper as it is Eminem.

He's created and mastered so many styles it's unreal and I think his influence is probably more unseen. Firstly, we're only beginning to see the rappers (Hopsin, B.o.B) that were influenced by Em coming up as he only debuted in 99. So, most of the rappers who will of been influenced by Em are now on their way up in the game. So his influence is being seen.

Then, you have his influence on technique. I know complex rhyming and flows were nothing new to rap when he debuted and plenty were doing it. But he definitely stepped the idea of perfection up a notch with his first three records and I'm sure that influenced many greats or technical rappers to observe and re-assess.

I think Masta Ace said he was influenced by Em's rhyming, or somebody said it was apparent that he was or something. The way Em would bend words and seamlessly make phrases that don't typically rhyme, so naturally rhyme and flow in abundance... just technically speaking, prime Em is the most impressive rapper ever.

Not to mention his delivery, and he was the voice of a generation. Even if more of his fans were white, so what. They're still human beings. And the way Em connected with a youth and became a flag for free speech and challenging censorship - the way he did it, is more important and intelligent than anybody else has done it.

The Marshall Mathers LP > Big Pun, Biggie, 2Pac + Nas combined.

Eminem is GOAT for what he did in his peak, but honestly, this is an Eminem forum... Take it to a hip hop forum for some unbiased opinions.

Not implying anything, just pointing out your stupid way of thinking. No matter how good those rappers are, Em is better or was better. And to be the best ever you must be big, sell records, sell out arenas, top the charts, win awards... I don`t find that to be the most important, but how the hell can you compare Eminem to the guys that did nothing like that.

So you're going to use stats that people hype Lil Wayne with to discredit underground rappers? Shiiit nikka. Copy has indisputably better punchlines than Em. DZK has done way more creativity wise with precision lyricism. It comes down to opinion so don't use facts that don't apply and try to at least appear subjective you cunt face.
