With his latest release, "Tha Carter IV," Lil Wayne wasn't able to match the million-plus bow of his 2008 effort, "Tha Carter III." However, the fourth edition in the series far from disappoints, at least from a sales perspective, with "Tha Carter IV" debuting atop the U.S. pop chart after selling 963,000 copies in the U.S., according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Interesting, I have a feeling the second week sales are going to be shockingly high also. Birdmans shananigans mite have something to do with it.

Or maybe Universal/Cash Money is all in on it. I've heard that at Def Jam when certain artists albums would drop they would require all the employees to buy copies. So why wouldn't Interscope or Universal practice that, also? But, anyway tho, that's just hearsay. I can't really PROVE that one. I mean, shit, how could I? Which one of them companies gon admit somethin like that? But here's what I CAN prove. The fact that niggas still can't explain how or why The Carter 3 sales dropped by 70% the second week it was out. Jus 1 week after selling 1,000,000 albums in a week? He broke a record wit that one, by the way, for biggest 2nd week sales percentage drop-off for a rap album. But 50 Cents "The Massacre" sales only dropped by 32% its second week out when it went plat in a week. Moreover, Eminem's "The Eminem Show" album sales only dropped by 39% its second week out when it went plat in a week. See where I'm goin wit this? So, long story short, Birdman jus got one over on y'all fools. He knows y'all watch 1st week numbers so he used a lil trickery on you niggas and, VIOLA! You have another "classic" album from his protege', Lil Wayne. Not to mention the fact that Birdman is in direct competition wit the boy, Jay-Z right now, and what record company exec do YOU know that got more pride than Birdman. (I'll wait.) I mean, damn, it's really not that hard to understand if you can comprehend things like sales projections. It's damn near no way an album that goes plat in a week is supposed to drop by 70% the following week. (Wat's crazy to me is the fact that it's some niggas that comment on this site weekly that CLAIM to work in the music biz, but, for some reason, they couldn't figga this one out.) So let's all just wait for them 2nd week numbers to drop, shall we? If the drop is anywhere between 50-80%, then the jig is up. (Unless Birdman tries to fix his last mistake.) But if he does, then jus watch the 3rd week numbers, cause like Pimp C said, "The truth always lasts longer than a lie." Food for thought for you niggas. And don't worry. This one's on the house.

I saw the above on another website. I'm kind of in between right now and don't know what to believe exactly. By the way is it true that the Em Show really had it sales drop 39 percent or was that guy making that up. I really hope Eminem would not be involved in something shady(honestly no pun intended just realized the pun), so I am going to doubt that info about the Em Show are false.

As for Birdman, even though some people may doubt that he would do something like this...I could see him doing it. What do you guys think? I think the 2nd week sales may tell us all we need to know. If he gets exposed it will almost be as bad as when your boy 50 and Interscope tried to add Itunes sales to the BISD flop of an album.

I wanted an album so rugged nobody could touch it.
Spent a million a track and went over my budget.
Now how in the fuck am I supposed to get out of debt?
I can't rap anymore, I just murdered the alphabet.

Yes, I doubt he cares. But most other US rappers can have hits here.

Nah, man, that really don't make no sense. Why would we do that?" he said. "I press and distribute 'em. Ain't no need for me to buy 'em. That's hustling backwards; we ain't in it for that. I ain't ever been a part of that type of scheme to be buyin' records. We don't do that, homey. We be working too hard to be -- that don't go with what we do. We truly what we do. We're real about what we do, we work hard every day at it, and we work for the people. That's what we do music for: for people. And we appreciate the love they give us back. But no such thing as me buying no CDs. I wouldn't even play it like that."

Hmm....
