Just saw this, so was it that his wife and kid were the last two...I really didnt get the ending and why it was such a mindfuck

Because, in order to complete the list of sins... he needed Brad Pitt to kill him. He presumed Brad Pitt's reaction to knowing his wife's head was in the box would be to kill him.

It's only a mindfuck in the sense of... the killer's intentions / planning of it. There's no big mystery to solve, it is what it is. But the fact he planned it in that way, the timing of it etc.

It's twisted brilliance, one of the best endings ever. And great acting from Pitt and Spacey.

Yes, I agree, great film for everything mentioned and much more. The only thing that bothered me about the film is that it was so intense with the first 2 murders and the sins they were for, that by the ending some people could miss the impact, like ^ there.
Also, in addition to the first 2 being given so much time, the 4th and 5th (if i recall correctly) were dont so fast that it took away from them in a sense. The whole girl with the pill bottle thing was dope but not given enough time or thorough look into by the detectives. God morgan freeman is the man, this and shawshank :worship:
And brad pitt, this and fight club :worship:

Sidenote, my friend told me this, and it sucks for those who see it now versus when it was iun theatres. Spacey wasn't in the opening credits, so you didnt know he was even in the film, making his appearance that much more "shocking" and added much more to the creative concept and execution, as well as the end of the film :y:

It took me a bit less than half of the movie to figure it out.
Inside Man with Clive Owen is a great movie.

Memento, Raging Bull.

Anyway as for general films, i highly recommend the masterpiece Once Upon A Time In America, that film has everything, from friendship paradoxes to freed, to regret. Honestly, it's the best film i've ever seen, oh and the soundtrack can't be more fitting!

Memento is Nolan's best. This is the definition of a mindfuck. The movie has a good story, but it is the execution that was game-changing. The disconnected timeline puts the viewer in the same position the main character (a sort of amnesiac) is in. It's not until the very last scene will anyone be able to connect the dots. It will blow your mind and the whole understanding of what was going on in the movie will change immediately.

Twelve Monkeys has a great story and I loved its examination on what being crazy really means. However, what really makes this movie so memorable is Brad Pitt's performance as a nutcase. He did to this movie what Heath Ledger did to Dark Knight. It's arguably Bradd Pitt's best acting ever.

American History X, 25th Hour, Fight Club, Primal Fear. I guarantee that Edward Norton will be your favourite actor after you watch these masterpieces (esp. the first three). There is nothing else I can say that will do justice to Edward Norton's contribution to these movies.
