Someone explain to me what a "forced" rhyme is.

For discussion of mainstream Hip Hop or Urban music.

Someone explain to me what a "forced" rhyme is.

Postby Blu » Sep 26th, '11, 05:33

SOMEBODY, ANYBODY. PLEASE.

I've been seeing the word "forced" next to the word "rhyme" all over this site and I'm clueless as fuck as to what it means.

Enlighten me, fellow TRShadyians. :coffee:

Btw, is this the right section? Haha

Hip-Hop fans really appreciates (or they did, anyway) when the rappers use great rhyme schemes, when they use internal, mosaic and multisyllabic rhymes in their songs. Some rappers like Crooked I do this VERY often, so this makes people ask if he did that just because it RHYMES or is it actually because he wanted to say it.

Nas, Eminem and others almost never jeopardise lyrical context for crazy rhyme schemes...look Illmatic...NO forced rhymes at all.

Infinite was too young and he just tried to be Nas, and Encore was on drugs def, and Relapse was too ambitious. Nas on I Am and Nastradamus missed inspiration, so yeah I'm referring to these guys' "prime".
BTW if you can specify anyone else who has better rhyme consistency or whatever, be my guest.

I'm pretty sure you didn't say "I'm referring to these guys' prime" in your original post, so really my bad if I didn't get that magical implication. Secondly, no I will not specify anyone else who has better rhyme consistency. I'm not trying to compete with you in the finding of one. I'm merely stating you're wrong about Eminem. I don't listen to Nas aside from Untitled, Illmatic, and Stillmatic so I can't really speak on him. Regardless if Eminem was trying to imitate Nas, he was in his mid/early 20's when he recorded Infinite. Shit, he wasn't that "young". In a greater picture, yeah he's young as fuck but in reality mid 20's isn't young. He was in full control of Infinite and not mentally deranged, he knew what he was doing with his lyrics to the fullest extent and if he didn't want to sacrifice content for schemes, he would have. I'm also sure you didn't state "aside from Encore, Eminem had really good blah blah.". I know he was on drugs and that wasn't his prime, but again that's besides the point. He had force rhymes on Infinite and Encore. He had forced rhymes here and there on Relapse (but I wouldn't say he sacrificed anything, they worked for the angle he was getting that).

I'm sure you won't count it by now, BUT by young NOT ALWAYS everyone thinks age. He was't EXPERIENCED, young in the game, influenced by others, was jacking Nas' style, put it however the fuck you want to. I don't know why the fuck would I be having this discussion with anyone...

Well that makes more sense, so thank you for that instead of an emote in attempt to degrade me.

I don't know why the fuck I would be having this discussion with anyone either. Dude, I said that Encore and Infinite had sacrificed content for schemes. You said Eminem almost never does that. It's clear he did on those two albums, whether young or drugged up. I honestly don't know what else I could possibly say, my point is right there that two of his albums did what you said he didn't. It's right there. :coffee:
