Eminem and Mike Tyson

Back in the day he said "You gettin' knocked the fuck out like Mike Tyson." Then, he gave Tyson props on You're Never Over-- "come right back on they asses and go Mike Tyson on these bastards"...

Of course, they were guests on the same show on Kimmel in 2009. Maybe meeting Mike made a difference and he watched old Tyson fights where he was destroying everyone and decided to make amends.

Think the "knocked the fuck out like Mike Tyson" was a reference to the Holyfield fight (even though he didn't really get knocked out...he was DQed).

That mention in "Just Don't Give a Fuck" obviously means he's knocking people out like Mike Tyson.

Not that they'll get knocked out like Tyson did. In 99 Tyson had only been truly knocked out once, when he lost to Buster Douglas...

But considering Tyson is an infamous knockout artist in the ring and one of the greatest heavyweights ever, I'm pretty sure Em meant LIKE Tyson knocks people out. Wasn't an insult.

I know.

But the first fight with Evander was a battle, and the second he got disqualified.

He'd only been beaten three points in his entire career at that point. Compare that to the dozens of first round knockouts he was infamous for... I think it's entirely more likely Em was saying he'd knock people out LIKE Mike Tyson knocks them out.

Not knock them out in the way Tyson got knocked out, once or twice out of 30-40 fights or whatever it was at that point. Tyson is infamous for knockouts. Not infamous for getting knocked out.
