Top 3 Albums of the 90s?

Postby EminemBase » Dec 2nd, '11, 06:13

What's your top 3 rap albums of the 90s?

Mine would probably be these...

1. The Slim Shady LP
2. At the Speed of Life
3. Internal Affairs

And honourable mentions to
- Black on Both Sides
- Illmatic (of course)

Yours?

Depends what you mean by top..
Skill? Pioneering styles?

For most controversial and provocative..
I'd say Ice Cube's first album tied with Dre's album and The Slim Shady LP.
Of course some of Big's and Pac's stuff too..

Most groundbreaking would be some of Nas's and Wu-Tang's stuff.

It's really hard to really pick a top album..Most of the stuff from the 90s was brilliant.

For all of the 90's, kinda of impossible. You got The Chronic, Doggystyle, Slim Shady LP, a few 2pac albums, ( All Eyez On Me to be specific with one) DMX, etc. I don't know. This is a really hard one and no matter what, somebody would be left out. :-k :confusion:

This is near impossible for me to do, I think my most played would probably be;

Raekwon - Only Built 4 Cuban Linx
Wu Tang Clan - 36 Chambers
Nas - Illmatic

But, every Outkast album from the '90's, SSLP, The Infamous, The Chronic, Doggystyle, Reasonable Doubt, Ridin' Dirty, so many other albums are right up there for me
Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus
See success is like suicide
Suicide, it's a suicide
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified

Thought about it. And I still can't do it. But here it goes:

1. All Eyez On Me - 2pac
2. The Chronic - Dr. Dre
3. Slim Shady LP - Eminem

Honorable Mentions:

Doggystyle - Snoop Dogg
Me Against The World - 2pac
7 day Theory - 2pac
R U Still Down - 2pac
It's Dark And Hell Is Hot - DMX
Creepin On Ah Come Up - Bone Thugs-n-Harmony
East 1999 - Bone Thugs-n-Harmony

Damn, I could just go on. I can't play by these rules. Sorry :facepalm

Can't say I got a "definite top 3"... (the 90s/early 00s is my favorite rap-era, with too many great albums). But based on what I've been listening to the most lately...

Mobb Deep - The Infamous
Nas - Illmatic
Eminem - SSLP
Xzibit - At The Speed Of Life
Jay-z - Reasonable Doubt
