Game's The Red Album voted Album of the Year by HHDX readers

"By a margin of over 500 votes, another Compton rapper, Game, made the reader-favorite for 2011. R.E.D. was a star-studded album, that attempted the concept and executed the blueprint that the onetime Dr. Dre protege is known for. Dre's narration on the album, along with Game's odes to Hip Hop, his street gang and extra-terrestrials made this a stylized listen, with some timely recognition of Kendrick Lamar and Tyler, the Creator. Just under 15,000 voters participated in this year's election, and an album that staff also championed took this year's honor."

Very well deserved. I think this album had everything: production, delivery, lyrics, etc. This is the best example of the quality displayed throughout the whole thing:

I think Game outdid himself with RED, and it's my favorite album by him just slightly behind The Doctor's Advocate. Anyone who wants some good gangsta/west coast/banger type of stuff should definitely check this one out. I still bump it constantly and it is as good as when I first listened to it.

Well.. It's definitely not album of the year, but it's a good album. I like the first half of the album more than the second.

Shit, even songs from his free mixtape (Candy Coronas) like Infrared or Rough are better than pretty much anything else this year.

I like Game though. I'm talking about, as a person now. I never used to but, he's so won the Game-50 battle in the long run. Game is much funnier and more well-rounded now. 50 is a fucking loser begging for approval now, fucking X-Factor?

I also like the... sort of, well I like the title and concept to the album even from the outset. I think more rappers should do things like this: try to encapsulate the album in some way. He's done it with a colour and a title, and, it's consistent and...

I've heard "Red Nation", which I think is really good. It sounds like a real anthem but, it's not cheesy, his verses are good too. And I like "Martians vs. Goblins"...

Still not played the album though. Not like I don't have time, I'm just lazy.

Listen to it before the end of the year duder, it's an excellent album.

I feel you'll like it because it is very narrative driven.

wow I though HHDX readers fucking HATED Game? Every time I go on a Game article I consistently see comments like "Get this clown off this site, no one cares about him"...I'm talking bout 60% of comments, not just a few.

Now, I think RED was best since Documentary, but I don't think it's album of the year, definitely in my top 10 though...possibly in my top 5, I didn't like 2011 very much save for a few albums.

Quite the opposite actually. Every song that leaked from RED and the mixtape got tons of hits and were rated very high by people on HHDX.

Emphasizes how insane Em and Wayne's sales are and how much bigger they are.

I was expecting R.E.D. album to sell more due to the anticipation...

But at the end of the day, the music is all that matters. And if the rest of the album matches or surpasses the quality of "Red Nation", Game wins.

It's funny as fuck that he said the album would be wacker than Carter 4 and Watch the Throne too, and that if you're looking for 'that' album, it's not it. I like his style now.

Sales were definitely lower than deserved, but oh well.

Red Nation is a highlight of the album no doubt, but there are plenty of other amazing tracks. Listen to the song that I linked in the op (Ricky), and you'll definitely want to listen the whole thing after that.
