Jay Z is better and it really shouldnt even be a debate. Wayne is 99% hype, 1% substance.

Oh and I dont buy that they dont write down lyrics. I know that might be what the say, but im calling bs.

Actually I take that back. Wayne probably doesnt write down his lyrics because others do it for him.

In the words of Sean Carter, show me what ya got, as far as proof of him being lyrical.

Wayne is way more lyrical then Jay is, and Jay bites from every rapper in the book- Biggy, 2pac, Slick Rick, etc.

Oh my god. It's one thing to call Wayne lyrical, go ahead, one man's trash is another man's treasure, but to go further and label Hov as non-lyrical.

Hov is one of the best ever when crafting his songs. One of the most intelligent. If you're too lazy to dissect his lines, read Decoded and understand the mind of a master at work.

I've always said it, it's not the new music that annoys me, it's the new fans.

I'm thinking Jay here, and by a pretty good amount. But it's completely up to how you compare them. Wayne is elevating not only rap, but music. I don't particularly care for him as a rapper, outside of some of his early work. But what he does for music is really impressive.

I'm not a new fan, I've been listening to Jay-Z for forever. And people here act like I hate Jay-Z, I love Jay, I just don't think he's lyrical.

And what pisses me off is all you stans NEVER acknowledge that he's a biter.

This shit is wicked on these mean streets
None of my friends speak
We're all trying to win, but then again
Maybe it's for the best though, 'cause when they're seeing too much
You know they're trying to get you touched
Whoever said illegal was the easy way out couldn't understand the
mechanics
And the workings of the underworld, granted
Nine to five is how you survive, I ain't trying to survive
I'm trying to live it to the limit and love it a lot
Life ills, poison my body
I used to say 'fuck mic skills,' I never prayed to God, I prayed to
Gotti
That's right it's wicked, that's life I live it
Ain't asking for forgiveness for my sins, ends
I break bread with the late heads, picking their brains for angles on
all the evils that the game'll do
It gets dangerous, money and power is changing us
And now we're lethal, infected with D'Evils...
...The mortician of love, sent from above
Forced entry, the more wenchy, the more stingy I become
Been doing this for more than a quarter century, I'm just numb...

I got 99 problems, but Weezy ain't one.

Jay easily! You should have compared Weezy against Drake. You don't compare a lion to a cat.

"I drove by the fork in the road and went straight" has to be one of the best lines I have ever heard in any rap song. Then of course, "you can pay for school but you can't buy class" is my favorite Jay line.

Jay-Z NOT lyrical? Listen to the Grammy Family Freestyle; one of the best lyrical performances you'll hear
Same sword they knight you they gon' good night you with
Sh.., Thats' only half if they like you
That ain't even the half what they might do
Don't believe me, ask Michael
See Martin, see Malcolm
You see Biggie, see Pac, see success and its outcome
See Jesus, see Judas; see Caesar, see Brutus
See success is like suicide
Suicide, it's a suicide
If you succeed, prepare to be crucified

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
OK why are people comparing these two. Why are they mentioned in the same breath, apart from the "beef" thing?
Jay-Z would lyricaly, flow and delivery wise kill Lil Wayne at any time period in our lifetime.
1996-onwards
End ah discussion. Cheeahhhh. Tsheeeboyyyy.
