What do you guys think the top 5 most disappointing hip hop releases of 2011 were?
For me it was
1.Lasers by Lupe Fiasco- This album was a huge disappointment for me.Almost the whole album was sub-par with he exception of "Words I've Never Said","All Black Everything", and "Show Goes On". Listening to all these crap beats and hooks really made me question Lupe's ear for the songs as a whole. Then He comes out saying it was his label that made his do that. Which leads me to my 2nd Disappointment of 2011.
2.Friend of the People by Lupe Fiasco- After saying the label created Lasers, Lupe got all his fans hyped that we would get some old Lupe back in the "Friend of the People" mixtape. Even the title implys that! We basically get a Lasers part 2(i think DEHH said that haha). Some crappy techno beats. The lyrics were there! Just not anything else. Apart from a few songs like Double Burger With Cheese, this was another huge disappointment. Lupe, did the label force this on you too?
3.Carter IV by Lil Wayne- Well after being released from Rikers Island, Tunechi was finally back...just in crappier form. This album was absolutely TERRIBLE. Every single other Carter was good, some even great. Carter IV did not live up to anything I expected. The album is filled with generic beats, lazy flow, and 1 dimensional lyrics. Just TERRIBLE. Numbers are definitely misleading with this album. Sold over 900k in the first week, but that was off pure anticipation. Album Sucked. Tunechi fell off.
4. Blue Slide Park by Mac Miller- Okay so this album wasn't THAT bad, but definitely disappointing. I've been somewhat impressed with his "K.I.D.S." mixtape. I liked his flow and had a good amount of lyricism considering how much mainstream appeal he has. Prior to this album's release, I was expecting something great. With Mac himself hyping this up a lot, It was all I could expect. The album sounded plain to me. All the songs sounded the same. Just my opinion tho. On to the last one...
5. E.P.I.C. by B.O.B.- This 5th one was hard haha. I chose BOB's recent mixtape E.P.I.C.(Every Play Is Crucial). I'd a pretty avid fan of BOB and anytime i hear of a upcoming release of his, I automatically get excited. Listening to this mixtape, I had mixed feelings about it. On one side we had BOB's undeniable lyricism and flow. On the other, we had this really radio friendly type beats and lack of subject matter. Now considering this is a mixtape before is upcoming album in March, there is a little leeway. But I felt it lack a difference in subject matter and it didnt show much progression from BOB.Not a bad mixtape tho.
There you go thats my list, thoughts?

he's getting REALLY repetitive tho
