I don't get how the quotes are relevant.

"We all have this idea that we should move up from our parents' station and each generation should do a little bit better."

Does anybody know?

To me it sounds like it's talking about ignorance and racism.
Deal with it when these individuals are young enough
Each generation should do better than their parents.
Approaching an age of the gross.

Seeing how the song is based on ignorance/racism, perception/judgment, I think it fits the song.
