Kendrick Lamar vs. Hopsin vs. Elzhi

Postby Slim Fiasco » Jan 15th, '12, 19:10

These are basically the best in the game right now, so I was wondering who do you think is the best among them?

My pick is Elzhi. I think that Kendrick is being too monotone with his delivery at times, not that he doesn't switch up his flow but I feel like there's a lack of energy in his voice, and he tends to be too quiet. Hopsin is great but I don't think he can execute metaphors and deeper content in general, as well as El and Lamar. Hop however, is better when it comes to rhyming and flow. Elzhi on the other hand, has all of that covered and I find him the best rounded out of the three.

Kendrick >>>>
Section 80 practically shits on what Hopsin and Elzhi have created so far.

Hopsin's first two albums were phenomenal and if he can evolve as an artist with his upcoming album then I believe that he'll finally be able to get that recognition that he deserves.

I won't fully form an opinion on Elzhi until he releases more of his new "own" work, Elmatic was an enjoyable listen and once more he proved his lyrical abilities on the tape, but then again, it was basically a 2011 version of Nas' album and he didn't really define his own character yet.

I like Kendrick but I don't see all the hype, but I guess it's because I wasn't in a good mood or something when I heard Section 80.
I MUST listen to it again once, to fully appreciate it I think..

But I immediately loved Elzhi.
His version of Illmatic was dope as fuck and I loved it, he didn't ruin the classic beats.
His lyrics are great, and his delivery reminds me of Royce's sometimes.

Now Hopsin.. I litterally fell in love with his music. It reminds me of prime Eminem, his verses fit his beats so well that you can only ruin it if you try to rap over them.
I'm glad i checked his sag my pants thread when he posted it lmao.

Raw was my favorite album of the year, and he is funny. His facebook statuse are cool, the guy is simple and modest as fuck.

It's like I admire him, for doing all that shit by himself. Fv, the beats, and he knows how to keep a fanbase.

Plus he's creating some buzz right now, with the contest, ill mind, just so his next single will be the biggest buzz on the internet when it's released.

Uh. I vote Hopsin.

I'm definitely a fan of Kendrick and Elzhi. Never really listened to Hopsin apart from Sag My Pants, Ill Mind of Hopsin IV and his verse on Am I A Psycho (which I thought was brilliant). I duno, for some reason I just haven't felt the urge to really check him out, I guess he just seems a little like Eminem of old but not as dope or as innovative.

This gets my ultimate respect for him (that status was posted today).

I'll be more active on the forum, btw. :8)

@Slim Fiasco, yeah when I saw that status I was like omg, that's being real.

Definitely Kendrick, he's more orignal then the other two combined. And he can go head to head with Elzhi lyrically IMO, plus he's getting huge hype. He also has orignal beats that are great quality and he is doing what Em did when he was younger, brought an original sound from the underground without selling out. Elzhi would be the second best but lets face it he'll never blow up, and hopsins good but unoriginal.

Just listened to Kendrick again. I missed a lot the first time.. Seriously. I kept the lyrics near, so I could understand each word carefully.

And he's fucking dope. Dope as fuck.
