Went to pick up her a few days ago and I swear she almost broke my ribs when she grabbed onto me, lol. She's had so many surgeries at this point, I just carry a notebook with me so when a doctor asks, I can just look it up.

Haha. I've had all of mine over the last fifteen years at the same hospital, so that's not an issue for me, but my file is a MONSTER. It's like six different folders taped together and held closed with a rubber band XD. It's like four inches thick.

That's awful, I'm sorry.
Trimss wrote:Would you mind if I ask you to explain what are the damage done by the "Cerebral Palsy" ?

It's the first time I read these words and having someone explaining it is so much easier than reading definitions on Wikipedia..

Well, for me personally...I was born 4 1/2 months premature [half baked, lol], and because I was so premature, I was born with grade 2 and 3 brain bleeds on both sides of my brain. That's how I ended up with CP. I was also born with this condition called retinopathy of prematurity, and in my case [this is gross] my eyes were growing backwards, and obviously that would've led to blindness, but somehow they reversed when I was an infant. Now my eyes are normal, I'm just nearsighted.

I have mild spastic CP, and the doctors claim it's actually in both of my legs, but it's only a problem for me in my lower left leg and foot. CP is a neurological disorder caused by brain damage, and it affects the muscles, usually the legs but also sometimes the arms and hands. It causes cramps, involuntary movements, shaking, loss of muscle control, etc. It's usually seen paired with other mental or learning disabilities. Basically, in my case, my left foot and ankle were permanently pointed in, nearly perpendicular to my right foot. I had a horrible time walking, obviously. ;) I had physical therapy when I was little, but it didn't do anything. They also tried treating it with botox injections and serial casting, which worked well at first, but got less and less affective as I got older. I didn't start walking until I was two. When I was twelve [I'm 17 now], the summer before eighth grade, I had a series of surgeries that released and cut a bunch of tendons in my foot and ankle, which straightened the foot but caused nerve damage, and then I had two more surgeries to fix the damage caused.

Trinell could probably tell you about the more severe kind if she wants. :)

My sister was born with CP. She's 25 now. She's actually classified as MRCP. She technically has the mind of a 9-month old baby, so she cries when she's hungry, tired, needs to be changed, upset, etc. I know why she has it, but my mom doesn't like to talk about it, and she's never really told the doctors why, either. Let's just say to the guys, if your girl is 8 months pregnant, please don't tackle her. :( Amaranthine pretty much covered the medical definition of it. My sis also has epilepsy, so the shaking is magnified with her. We're still trying to control her seizures, but I guess because she's getting older, the complications are getting worse. I've honestly never done much research on CP, because I was always afraid of what I would find out about it. I don't really know what else to say about it. It's more of something you have to see to believe, because I've never seen two people with CP that were exactly the same.

Thanks for taking your time. :y:

Well that really sucks to be honest, but it's really cool to see that you can now walk normally. If there was one thing that I would hate, that would be not being able to walk.

I guess you spent a lot of time in hospitals and shit. I stayed one week in a hopital and I swear it was one of the worst week of my life so.. And I didn't know babies who were born after only 4 and a half month of pregnancy could live to be honest. I was born during the 7th month, and the only thing that is wrong with me is that my feet are kind of flat so I have to wear orthotics but I never do it.

I hope it'll go well for you, so you won't have to get operated on again.

@trinell, That's really a bad situation.. But I respect you because you're taking care of your sister, which isn't the easiest thing knowing all of that.
I guess it's not easy for you everyday, but still. :y:

Thanks! Unless something goes wrong, I'm done with surgeries. :)

I hate when people include their fatness on a list of a disabilities and diseases.

Try being fat for a day and tell me it isn't socially, emotionally and physically crippling.

Yes I'm sure it would suck being fat as fuck, but it's not like they're immune to diet and exercise.

It's their own fault.

What if they're too huge to move? That would be disabling, right?

Not always. There are disorders that cause obesity.
And yeah, like Trinell said, being too fat to move is undoubtedly a disability.

Yes but you can't group obesity in the same category as say autism or ADD, because if you're fat you obviously did it to yourself.

There probably are but they're rare. 99% of the time, they're fat because of eating too much and being lazy as fuck.

My sister has cerebral palsy. You are truly amazing to be able to talk, read and write. If you can walk too, I'm even more envious.

No wonder you're a fucking class-A tard. Isn't that shit genetic?

Too bad this isn't 5th century Europe, we could have all thrown stones at her and fallen down in mocking gestures of deformity. All the while smiling gleefully.

How the fuck could you say some truly horrid shit like that? That is totally uncalled for.
