Thanks, lol. And I didn't take any offense from your post (just saying). However, I do agree that we should take advices from people who have been successful at that certain field or whatever. Like, I've never been in a long ass relationship so I can't tell my friend much about it, but giving my honest opinion in the "what would I do" manner is fine. And that's all that this is.

Some really helpful advice you gave there :y:

I still think that most of the points (which I'm sure could be extremely helpful for a lot of aspiring rappers) would come to the most gifted artists naturally. As in, they'd take those pauses that you mentioned naturally, change their intonation naturally and would be able to ride the beat naturally without necessarily doing it so consciously. Like, if you take Eminem on Infinite, technically he is very impressive and the amount of rhymes he makes is way way above the average rapper (someone posted the statistics on here a couple months back). But what was so important to his success with his Slim Shady persona was not concentrating on making so many multies and instead concentrating more on switching up his flow and content and also developing a persona and telling a story.

I think by 1999 he found the perfect balance of content vs rhyme vs flow and thats one of the reasons why The Marshall Mathers LP was such an amazing album. For some reason it's always this video that fascinates me, just the sheer amount of "ee" and "aw" rhymes combined with the perfect blend of pauses and intonation changes. I mean, it's just so different to how any other rapper would've freestyled over this beat:

But yea, I think a lot of aspiring rappers could find this a lot of use.

Do you mind if we move it to The Audio Stage, it would be a great addition on there as a sticky topic. :y:

Thanks. And I agree that it would come more natural to some people, but I believe that that may be the case at a younger age. Because I do think that every good MC grasps this fully, but I guess it's weird to explain. And after all, all this is about "feeling it", and for it to come natural to you, so these are just some guidelines to help you to get there.

And yeah, Em had the best flow ever to me from '99-'02, specially '99.

Excuse me for bumping this but I made an important addition in the original post, and I know that some people have bookmarked this, and I want to make sure that I didn't mislead them on certain parts, and that I helped as much as possible. Check out the last few paragraphs in the original post, under "edit".

*this may also be good for the people who aren't aware of this thread.

Bump, plus I've made some changes, and I think that the tutorial is now as complete as it can be. Some things seemed misleading in retrospect but I think I won't say that again in the future, haha. Read the OP again if you follow my advices because it's more correct now.

Also, can someone make this a sticky for the audio section? I think that'd be awesome.
