TJ Marrs- Angel Of Death

Postby TJMarrs » Feb 21st, '12, 23:42

Hey, I just wanted to get some feedback on this song I recorded a few weeks ago. I record from a home recorder so I'm not sure of the quality but let me know what you think of it lyrically and as a song. Thanks.

wow no offense but the quality is absolute SHIT! haah nah but foreal you got great potential underneath the fuzz i can tell yo know how to flow i liked your lyrics i was surprised by how long you kept up the rhyme pattern in the first verse. i kinda liked the chorus - the idea is awesome but the actual delivery was not so stellar, you should probably get a girl to sing the hook cuz you can't man. either way idk if your just starting off in this rap game but this song is a great start.

i got a song that no one has commented on yet too, mind returning the favor?

Thanks for the feedback. I agree about the quality but it's all I can afford right now. I've actually been rapping for a while and still open to improving my skills. Not too bad for an "amateur" though right? Thanks though.

yea your pretty good man not doubt. you should invest a little more in your mic and sound system if you want people to hear you, i have a basic mic but a really good mixer - protools. after you figure out the basics of it, you can make a pretty decent sounding track. i'm not saying mine sounds proffessional but it sounds passable if ya know what i mean. would you mind checking my song out? it hasn't go any feedback yet, i'm sure you know the aggravated feeling haha

Its more than buying equipment, its knowing how to actually record. Your clipping through out the entire song. (cliping is when the vocal output reaches its max causing a distorted scratchy horrible sound) You gotta turn down your recording volume, step back from the mic, and the stack the vocal track and or layer it with others. I like to have 3 stack tracks, one panned a little left, other panned a little right, and then the last in the middle, ajust volume accordingly. Then next you EQ your tracks. This is a whole nother moster that i dont have the time to explain but google is your friend! Once you get the mixing down in a proper program you should be in much better shape, a new mic and pre ample would improve your sound even greater BUT the mixing part is more important. Your flow is decent and delivery isnt bad either, hook was bAD, you need to layer you vocals in hooks every track. Hope i helped, keep at it!
