If this is their 1st single then, they're in trouble commercially.

Nice production but it's essentially just the sample that makes it so... and, their flows don't seem like they fit the beat properly. Almost like they're separate from it. And the beat is too loud.

The hook and its concept is okay but I'm sick to death of gun talk and threats now. And, for all their lyrical ability, and their dedication... and desire to be original and different... they do nothing but emulate past redundancy in their content.

The verses are just self-promotion and bravado, and I know people think 'that's hip-hop', but it's not really. I know hip-hop isn't one thing but, this kind of content is so repetitive, regardless of skill. I'd expect to hear these verses in freestyles, not an album.

I love raw thoughts, I love tongue-in-cheek and I love rhyming and flows, but I've heard enough about what 'anybody will do' to 'anybody else' with 'what' for a life time now.

I really hope it's not an album mostly of this, with a few 'deep cuts', I'll be hugely disappointed.

^ Crooked I and Joell have both stated that there will be a good mix of introspective and non-introspective songs so...if they're telling the truth I'm sure you have nothing to worry about.

@EminemBase, I wouldn't be worried about this being the first single. They're releasing freestyles and free verses these times, I think they would've at least promoted it differently if it was a single. :y:

I don't want introspection, I want originality man.

I'm sick of rappers thinking that an album is original or good if they have a few tracks 'dedicated to their homies', about love or respect, friendship or just their life in general.

The amount of... possible ideas, stories to be told, concepts to be imagined is infinite. Everybody seems to be so lacking in creative ambition now, in terms of... wanting to really be groundbreaking. Not just good, or even great (in terms of rhyme, flow etc.) but, be an artist that you cannot forget.

They've all been slaving away at this game for years and barely got any recognition for such great skill... then they get an amazing break and get signed by EMINEM, the biggest rapper in history:

There is no better scenario than that. Not only is he the biggest rapper, but he's one of the most respected and most skilled, and most original. You just can't get a better situation or platform than that. So if I was them, I'd be aiming to change the face of rap.

And I'm not saying that's easy to achieve, but, battle raps and introspection certainly isn't that. And if you're not aiming for that, what's the point. Why aim for just 'good' or 'more of the same'.

I hope I'm surprised or knocked back in some respect.

I agree in a lot of ways. I think the first track on the album (which features Em) is supposed to be a concept song according to Joell. I just know they are supposed to have a variety of songs and themes...but I don't really expect a game changer. I honestly expect them all just to be spitting hard verses over hard beats lmao. Wish it would be a game changer though.

You're certainly right about the big break from signing with Em...they got incredibly lucky. All Em would have to do is promote SH even a little bit to get them buzzing like a shitload of bees.

To me this sounds like pure filler, nothing original, nothing memorable.

Is that why the hook has been stuck in my head since yesterday?

It's not bad, though I think the beat is too repetitive. I like the Korn riff, but I wish there were some variations to the drums in the arrangement.

The verses are good, but again I think it suffers because the beat is a little too repetitive for 4 verses.
