Gorillaz - Plastic Beach

Postby B.A.D. » Mar 10th, '10, 01:38

Bought this album yesterday... didnt reach my expectations... just a few good tracks
let me break it down very very brefly, so u know weather to buy it or not.

01. Orchestal Intro (fea. Sinfonia ViVA)
nothing special
02. Welcome to the world of Plastic Beach (feat. Snoop Dogg)
very weird track, no replay value and I didnt quite got what Snoop Dogg was tryng to do here
03. White Flad (feat. Bashy & Kano)
cool and creative verses, an nice beat but realyl a meh track, also no replay value
04. Rhinestone Eyes
the best track of the album in my opinion, 3 "cool" verses from Damon Albarn, kinda rap with a bit of sining style, no vocal hook but nice... AMAZING syth use. 9 out of 10 on this one
05. Stylo (feat. Mos Def & Bobby Womack)
Weird weird track, specially for the singe, but I dont hate it.. and I dont know what was the point of having Mos Def saying 3 things onthe whole track... Bobby Womack AMAZING on it tho
06. Supperfast Jellyfish (feat. De La Soul)
This track is good beacuse it brings the classic Gorillaz back, very good track, plus funny verses from De La Soul, funny hook too

not gonna break much of the rest cuz the rest kind of sucks... except
"Some Kind Of Nature" with Lou Reed.... that track is nice too
and the "Sweepstakes" again with Womack.... AMAZING track too, has a diferent vibe to it... I liked it

any more info... just ask :y:

I wasn't too keen on Sweepstakes and Superfast Jellyfish so I didn't really bother checking the rest out. Maybe I should, a dunno, maybe eventually...

I've heard some songs and I'm not sure what kind of band they are, and they sound pretty good, I'm going to dig deeper about them. What album is good to start off with?

There are a couple of decent tracks on there. I like the Mos Def feature. I think The Fall EP last year was about as good as Plastic Beach.
