Hmmm...

Yeah, that's kind of how I was with The Smiths before I realized Morrissey was a douche.

Same thing with Morrissey. Decent songwriter, but his voice and style annoyed the shit out of me.

But on his messages, what exactly annoys you?

His position on tokers was a little heavy handed for my tastes, but then he signed Dizzy Wright.

His messages on drugs. Being clean is great (hell I'm drug free for the last few months) but being a dick about it isn't.

& him bitching about rappers like Lil Wayne, and others. If you don't enjoy something, then don't bring it more attention by mentioning it. I know most people don't agree with my philosophy on that subject, so I don't hate him for that

It just prevents me from taking a serious liking to him.

I think Eminem has matured, and doesn't just throw out hate for music he doesn't enjoy. I mean, it's just music, it's no good reason to dislike a person, or speak harshly about them. & I believe Eminem when he says he enjoys Eminem.

But We aren't eminem, so we don't know who is right lol

I just hate the whole "hip hop sucks" message. It doesn't suck, it never has sucked. Stop giving people like Wayne, & others that much power to ruin a entire genre of music.

But I'm just a drunk man talking

The drug thing was annoying me.

He's really focused on being a positive force, but I don't think he understands drug use all that well. Especially marijuana. His mention on Nocturnal Rainbows about pot made that abundantly clear, along with his characterization of marijuana smokers as "Lazy Junkies" on Twitter.

That really bothered me, not because I smoke (I don't), but because it's not true. That drug warrior mindset isn't cool. That made me think that he judged people that smoked up, and that's not alright by me.

Then, like I said, he signed Dizzy Wright, who is just this side of being a weed rapper. He's more creative than that, and he talks about other things, but marijuana is a big part of his subject matter. Hopsin signed him to FV though, and that lets me know that there's more to it than what he's said.

I don't know, I just respect him as an artist. He cuts through the bullshit, and I admire that. I don't like everything he does, and I don't listen to him a whole lot, but I like his thoughts on rap music in general.

I get where you're coming from though, for sure.

Have you checked out Dizzy Wright at all?

"Fuck Your Opinion" was a pretty nice song, from what I remember.

Just listened to "Lucifer Effect" for the first time in forever.

I think this is the only song that has a verse from SwizZz that I actually liked.

Hop probably ghostwrote it though, lol.

I liked and respected him rapping about his views on drugs in Nocturnal Rainbows.

I like how Hopsin is confident enough to say he that he doesn't do drugs. (I have been drug free for a while now and finally feel I am confident to say to a chick or someone you wanna look cool in front of that I am drug free)

I see how people can take it as him saying 'you're an idiot if you're a dopehead' but I think the message In Noc rainbow that you were referring to was more about how people are hypocrites about it.

As you mentioned, by signing Dizzy (and even Swizzz smokes a bit) I think that shows he's not fully against people doing it. Its just he personally doesnt do it and he has problems with people being hypocrites and also people complaining about shit when they are getting shitfaced every weekend.

I'd say you're mostly right, for sure. I admire him for saying what he believes, and for trying to be a positive force. As long as he doesn't get all judgmental (as he has on Twitter) I don't have a problem with him at all. He's more or less cool in my book.

Now, onto this Funk Volume vs The Jokerr thing. Thoughts, anyone?

I finally checked out The Jokerr...he makes good songs, for sure. His writing is good, and his flow is nice too. He's a talented guy, and he puts a lot of work into his art. He's creative, and motivated.

BUT. I don't like his delivery voice. It's forced...like a bad Batman impersonation. Aside from that, the whole Jester thing is fine and all, but seeing him actually rapping in an outfit like that (every time) makes him look just as gimmicky as a juggalo, but without the low IQ and random need for violence.

Also, as a person? He seems like a douche. He seems very self-righteous. Everything he does is right, in his eyes at least. He would probably admit a mistake begrudgingly, but only after spending 20 minutes talking about how wrong everyone else is. Maybe I'm missing his redeeming values. I don't know.

I do know that his belligerent attitude towards atheists is completely unnecessary. I'm sorry, but I don't think atheists are bombarding him with anti-religious statements, so why he feels the need to bombard them with hostile remarks is beyond me. Believe what you want, but don't be a dick to the people that support you.

Anyway, I feel like he has a decent reason to be upset with Hopsin. I also feel like he's overstating his actual influence and contributions to FV as well, but that might be because of the negative impression I already have of him. Whatever...

Anyone else have any input?

Glad you checked him out! Jokerr's one of my personal favorites out there right now, so I may be kind of biased but I think Hopsin definitely wronged him in this situation. The artist should decide who/what goes in the video, not some dude behind a desk. Furthermore desk dude shouldn't take someone out of a video over personal beef. I think it's bullshit that Hopsin let politics get in the way of friendship. Then again, I don't see the whole story and I'm pretty biased as I like Jokerr much more as an artist than Hop. Hopefully this is an elaborate trolling effort, but the last time I said that ...yeah..

With that said, I would love for this to be an elaborate trolling effort. Hopsin could enter Jokerr's diss contest at the last minute to win it, and laughs will be had. Hopsin in a Jokerr outfit would be pretty hilarious.

Anyways, I remember the first time I watched "I'm Grewsum" I thought the exact same thing as you did. His voice sounded so fucking forced to me and I couldn't believe this douche called out tech n9ne. Time passed, I instantly forgot about him, then I remember seeing "Ever Before" and I was like..damn. Now I'm a huge fan and enjoy his voice.
