Do you think Yelawolf will blow up?

Everything related to the record label Shady Records, including Slaughterhouse and Yelawolf.

Exactly.

Yelawolf as a huge mainstream success is a delusion. It's not going to happen, and that's ok. Who the fuck cares? Seriously, why does it matter? If anything, by the time you get that big, you've had to change everything original about yourself, and it doesn't matter anymore anyway.

Let Yela stay just below the mainstream, that's where he belongs.

I want him to get the recognition he deserves, I want him to blow up. Hopefully things go good for Yelawolf, and note that I don't want him to blow up if he sacrifices his musical originality. Same goes for Slaughterhouse.

Who is he going to get recognition from, though?

He's already got recognition from everyone that matters. The people who actually seek out good music. People that appreciate originality and innovative creation.

Mainstream success is driven largely by sales to teenage girls. They don't appreciate the creative aspect; they like a beat and a hook. Fuck their opinion.

If this were 100% true I'm sure no teenage white girl was bumping "Hi, My Name Is", but idk if I'm right about that. I know they bump it now but that's not the point. If Eminem could do it then Yelawolf should at least be able to get half of the amount of the attention Eminem had received.

Every single teenager in America was singing that hook.

Nvm then, but what's stoping Yelawolf from making something like that? He just hasn't found his hit yet.

But there is a huge difference between 1999 to 2012...music and people have dumbed down a whole lot. People now consider Lil Wayne, Wiz Khalifa, Rick Ross, Drake and every artist like them to be the best among teenagers. Artists like Em, Jay, and Kanye are still popular because they're too huge to just go away. It's the older people who grew up with good hip hop that aren't buying into this bullshit. Teenage girls did not grow up the same as we did, they've been brainwashed into believing Wayne has the "best punchlines" and Drake is apparently as good as the likes of Em, Jay, and Ye.

He should have by now considering how appealing his sound is, but I don't see it anymore, unless Shady Records promotes the living shit out of his next album.

AbramIsaac wrote:So can anyone tell me why Yelawolf will blow up? He put out a radio-friendly album, he's signed to Shady Records, and he makes good music. If the problem is with promotion, what makes you think next time around will be different? If anything, it'll be worse, because Interscope won't back an album they think won't sell well.

I consider it more like what Tyga does. He is on the HOTTEST label in the industry, he collaborates with everyone hot and he makes radio-friendly music... but until "Rack City" dropped, he hadnt done enough to be in the same breath as Wiz Kalifa. He made a HUGELY successful single and went on a massive promotional mode for ONE song that had simply exploded for w/e reason. Currently, it has uncountable remixes and 4 different videos.

The single driven industry we reside makes it obvious that Yelawolf without a successful single was never gonna be famous. THAT, not the album is what they must try promote and with a bit of luck, he might make it.

But, i give it to you, even that sounds far-fetched considering his output rate and focus on tours.

I seriously think Whip It would have been a good single, it could have replaced Hard white and I bet it would have done better

Whip It was awesome. The bonus tracks should have replaced 3 of the poppy songs on the album. It would be so much better.

Lol are you tryna start making "Barbarians" the TRShady insult then? Miller told me about the "peasant" stuff that SL does, and I've been imitating ever since. I'm implimenting it in my vocabulary everywhere I go now.

Yea haha, you say tomato is say tomato, you say peasant I say barbarian, BITCH
