Relapse sucks. Who wants to listen to Eminem rapping about his serial killer fantasies

There is no complete album that was supposed to be released laying around. Relapse 2 was the title. Em said the direction of the album changed (the Recovery songs) too much to call it Relapse 2. It's the same thing with a different name since the songs are nothing alike. Im sure that anything half decent would have been released whether it was on Refill or Recovery.

I apparently don't know what I'm talking about because I don't know what skit you're referring to. This was my interpretation of people saying the "direction changed" etc. I'm going to try and find that skit, but I do not understand why there would be a bunch of Relapse-ish tracks laying around without a release...

Ok I found the skit. It's obvious that there were two albums, but they weren't both necessarily serial killer accent songs. They very well could have been Recovery songs, which they planned to call Relapse 2, only to realize the name didn't fit. You have the same amount of understanding of this as I do, unless Em or Steve have told you upfront.

This could be true.

The title Relapse doesn't necessarily refer to serial-killing. It just means going back to a previous state (usually drug abuse).

People referring to skits and lyrics in songs while trying to look like they know more than one another is being stupid. So all the Paul calls Em skits are real to, eh?

One of the most tragic statements in hip-hop of recent times.

Uh no, actually there was complete material.

He didn't have a title and then planned to work on material and ended up making the material you hear on Recovery instead. Recovery is a different mindset, a different album.

ALL the material was completed for R1 and R2 by the time he made the announcement. He said they probably had enough material for three, but whittled it down to two (hence: they actually sorted out two). He was pretty much just deciding how many songs and which ones would be on there.

But there's a whole batch of Relapse-era material unheard and "in his trash" :facepalm

Steve doesn't actually exist, he's a fictional character...

I think Eminem had 2 albums made with Relapse material. In fact, I am positive there was an interview where he said he and Dre recorded so many songs that he couldn't get them on one album. So the songs certainly exist, and I think we got the highlights of the album with Refill.

He also mentioned in an interview, after Relapse had been released that it was cool but he wanted to start making music with much more replay value. So I think after the response he received from Relapse (a Luke warm reception), he went back to the drawing board.

Yeah but he said Relapse was a lot of 'one liners' and stuff you hear once and the joke's over... when, that's Recovery! Recovery is chock-full of puns, that once you get upon immediately hearing you go "oh" and then it's never even that good again lmao.

Where as Relapse... jokey one-liners :confusion: ? it's like he gets his own music analysis backwards lmao. Relapse is descriptive, narrative, detailed, nuance lyricism.

I prefer Recovery. I really dont like Relapse. Relapse 2 exists... but dont ya'll get your panties in a bunch because more than half of it was released anyway either on Recovery or on Refill or as a leak. That said, i just went to Eminembase's youtube and saw this video

No, half of it was not released on Recovery.

ALLLL Relapse material was done with Dr. Dre. Anything with another producer, was not for Relapse. Anything without 'that' style, was not Relapse.

Recovery is a different album, a different project, new ideas, new producers, new styles. Not Relapse 2 with a new title and some new tracks.

yes, i realise that... but isnt "So bad" from the first sessions? "On Fire is definetly one from the earlier projects as well. Most of Refill- particularly Music box and Taking my ball were from the first relapse sessions. Add the bonus tracks from relapse- "Careful what you wish for", "My Darling" and other leaks which supposedly were on it "Things get worse" and "Hit me with your best shot" and you have at least 8 records from Relapse 2 actually being available in some way of form.
