Do Newer Albums Feel Older To You?

In the sense that, Illmatic for example was released in '94, and The Eminem Show in '02. However, while I first heard TES when it was released, I didn't hear Illmatic until 2006 or so, so in a way Illmatic feels newer to me than TES. Do you get the same thing?

Menzo wrote:Could just be your taste, I was thinking about this the other day. I was listening to MMLP and I was thinking how it still sounds fresh to me meanwhile albums coming out in 2009 til now sound old and done with.

The same can be said for Stillmatic, Country Grammar and At The Speed Of Life, for me.

I feel like the only current album that can potentially withstand the test of time like some of the classic albums back then now is Section 0.80.

I agree with Section.80, amazing work by Kendrick Lamar. He's a GOAT.

The best hip-hop albums IMO:

1.) The Eminem Show/The Marshall Mathers LP
2.) Section.80
3.) The Chronic 2001
4.) Illmatic
5.) The Slim Shady LP

It just makes me excited for "Good Kid In A Mad City" (don't like the name tbh, could be better). It also goes to show Dre's ear for talent and music.

^ Bottoms up also has that 2003 feeling. It brings you back in time with those awesome and simple beats.

That's because to you, the newer albums are older, and vice versa

No...I actually wish albums felt older than they are. Older music has been generally better than the newer music.

yes
that's why music is timeless
How can hip-hop be dead if Wu-Tang is forever?
