Since I am more into lyrical albums I find it difficult to classify an album as a classic if it does not completley change the game or push boundaries, must have a lyrical focus. It needs to convey a deep message that people can take from. Politically focused albums have done a good job at this.

I will say GRODT is one of the few albums that really lacks in all those categories but I still enjoy it as music without analysing anything. I can just sit back and listen to it and enjoy every track. So I would say it has great longevity but not a classic. As we all have different definitions to classic I do not classify it as a classic, it would not be an album defines what real Hip Hop is for me but as music I find it enjoyable. I was actually listening to it at the Gym this morning.

Yes, every song on there is great.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

Not for me. I never liked 50. 90% of his songs are about the same shit.

An album that has A+ production, no matter how good, combined with elementary, generic, and repetitive lyrics shouldn't be considered a classic. Did it sell a lot? Yes. Did it sell a lot because of 50's talent? Nope. It sold off the Shady/Aftermath hype, plus the production value.

There was a gap in the market for an over hyped, strongly backed, below average rapper.

Just imagine if Dr. Dre had shown that level of backing, production quality, attention, blockbuster features and promotion to someone like Joell Ortiz when he had the chance to. Now that would have been a classic.

Thank you Hesky for this sexy post. I agree 100%, fuck 50 Cunt. :b:

Definitely a classic.

Amazing Beats ./
Amazing Hooks ./
Amazing Em Verse ./

Timeless ./

And why the hate for 50 Cent? He's made an album that 90% of rappers can't match and won't match. Who cares if the rest of his work hasn't reached that standard. Was always gonna be hard.

It all came together for this record. And now he's got more money than he can burn.
