Well I believe it was founded on songs celebrating life, not partying like nowadays but...happier thoughts I guess. I think.

Haha, thanks man. I just need to get this cleared up because I'm not sure if I should be agreeing or disagreeing with people when they say hip-hop was founded off of "emotions."

Yea, but before that it was used by black slaves in America and Africans all over the globe as a way to communicate hardships. I forgot where I read that, so don't bank on that being right. Anyway, it was around before it became party music and has roots in poetry and jazz.

Hip-hop was born in the 1970s as a way for young kids in the ghetto to express themselves through music. Spraying graffiti, emcee's, DJs and breakdancing were ways for communities to come together.
