Royce: "If you dont think I sold out with Lighters, you're gonna like this album."
Uh oh...

 uh...I guess that means nobody's going to like it.

I did think it was kinda fishy how in the interview I posted, Joell dodged the question of how commercial the album will get and just said that lyrically they hadn't compromised anything. What are they doing, sick lyrics and then Justin Bieber on the hook?

Commercial isn't bad as long as it's done right. Maybe he meant like...content-wise with that Lighters comment. Lighters is quite a departure from what Royce usually does.

Exactly. If we get more hooks by people outside of Slaughterhouse than Slaughterhouse themselves Im gonna be pissed. After hearing She Will Im gonna expect Joey to bring some killer hooks. And we all know how great Royce is. You can write the most lyrical verse of all time, but if it's over a techno beat and Bruno is on the hook, people are still gonna think it's just some radio song.

I have a feeling that's exactly what will happen...the beats will probably be better than mere "techno beats" but the hooks will be commercial I think...I don't think they'll sacrifice their lyricism at all on this album, but I do think it will sound somewhat commercialized with pop singers doing the hooks. I do believe, as I stated before, that the beats won't be that "poppy" though. Unless Em's influence on this album is negative and he just made them pick bad beats. I don't think that's the case.

Didn't you heard the interview? They said a Premo beat is worth the wait but Premo has just been fucking around and hasn't send them anything

I don't know who is making the decisions... It just seems like shady records wants to get this mainstream thing mixed with power lyrics going rather than keepin it real and putting out the material us real hip hop fans want to hear. I mean yea a song with Bruno Mars hits I TUNES and radio stations like a tsunami and gets over played but I think they forget about people like us :(

Royce's misses the point in his response about "Lighters".

It's not that people don't want to see him succeed, it's because it's in such a compromised, desperate and tacky way. It's all about execution.

Nobody would be complaining or pissed of a classic rap track was #1. It's the fact that Bruno Mars was arbitrary - and slapped on simply to make the song a hit.

It's okay if it's inherent, or part of the initial conception of the song (such as Dido's chorus inspiring the concept of "Stan"), but to have it tacked on, clearly as... an after-thought and calculated thing like that... and even then, as long as it sounded good it would be okay.

But Bruno sounds stupid on "Lighters", the song is embarrassing, and out of place.

As long as the whole album is not done this way it will be fine. But after Recovery, Lighters, Radioactive, it just seems like this is the sound Shady is going for. Really hope not though. Never thought I would be questioning the production from the Dre/Em camp.
