I think Kanye can do more, but that Em's best beats are more memorable.

Kanye samples A LOT. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing with him, as he's very creative with it and he constantly re-invents things and clashes culture in interesting ways.

Em is more basic, more bare-bones. But to me, the beat for "The Way I Am" for example, is more memorable and enjoyable than any Kanye beat I've heard. And I'm a big Ye fan too btw.

Em's beats feel like 'real music' to me. Obviously because he uses live instruments (or used to?), as in, he creates original music a lot, with musicians present. Because of that, the beats don't necessarily feel like just, 'rap beats' like a lot of productions in hip-hop: they feel like real music. Like, "No Apologies" - pianos, strings... it just feels richer, it sounds like quality.

But if we're just talking about 'better' (as, my musical preference doesn't necessarily make Em 'better'), then I'd say Kanye is a better producer. In the sense he can do more, and I think he's more engaged and full-on in that field. It's what he does.
