But, Nicki IS pop now but not for the reasons he said. She just makes music aimed at a broad demographic, she makes watered down love ballads, she makes pop music.

Nicki's doing dance songs because of Super Bass really. That song unexpectedly blew up (she wasn't even planning to release it as a single in the first place, but Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift were rapping to it on Youtube and the song started getting popular) and now she's hungry for more.

It's so annoying. Especially since hip hop is doing so badly commercially at the moment. I'd like there to be a popular hip hop song this year, you know, like how In Da Club and Lose Yourself were popular back in the day. Nicki is probably one of the only artists out there that had the potential to have hits with hip hop songs, because she has such broad appeal, so I felt very let down the first time I heard Starships.
